The theme of my research is “ EDUCATION NOWADAYS”. The main argument why I’ve chosen this theme is that I would like to express my opinion about the Modern education.

The purpose of the theoretical part is to answer the following questions: Is distant learning the perfect alternative to traditional education? Is English the only language people need learning at school? Is the best way to learn English to master it abroad? Are private schools more effective than public schools?

As a matter of a fact, distant education offers lots of educational courses and programs for all tastes and budgets is becoming increasingly popular among people of all ages. Secondly, English today is the mostly spoken and understood language in the whole world. Some people are convinced that it should be the only language taught at school.

Thirdly, nowadays many people face a difficult decision when they choose a school for their children. The question is whether to send them to a private school or to a state school. These facts prove that the problem of the theme I’ve chosen is really up-to-date.

The object of my research is modern school and education. The subject of the research is the problem, modern people have while receiving their education.

It is general knowledge that distant education is a brilliant possibility for many people to study from home or work. There are several reasons for it. First of all, on line education suits physically challenged people. Secondly, it can be convenient for people with limited schedules who combine work and studies or simultaneously train at several institutions. Thirdly, online education attracts lots of students living in the remote areas. On the contrary, there are people who believe that there is nothing better than traditional education. They insist that interaction with teachers and other students is essential.

As for languages learning, some people are convinced that it should be the only language taught at school. In my opinion, the more languages you know the more qualified worker you are. Learning languages improves the educability and opens your mind. Moreover, people who know several languages tend to get highly-paid jobs. For instance, experts say that English, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese are the economic languages of this century.

And the last problem to analyze is the choice of schools. The question is whether to send children to a private school or to a state school. Firstly, most private schools have small sizes. Hence, schoolchildren have more opportunities to form close relationship with their teachers and peers, which can lead to friendly environment in the class and effective knowledge acquisition. Secondly, the staff of private schools pays greater attention to self-discipline. Thirdly, in private schools there are lots of extracurricular activities such as drama, acting or soccer. Nevertheless, let us consider this problem form another angle. Some people still prefer public schools to private schools. The reason for it is high tuition fees.

The aim of my practical part is to find out the preferences of my classmates and their relatives concerning education. The idea of online education attracts 8 respondents. 17 people are for face-to face conversation.

Conclusion: Taking into consideration all mentioned above, I think that online learning can alternative to traditional education but cannot replace it.

Conclusion: As for languages learning, I would definitely recommend everyone to study several languages. Sound language skills are guarantee of success in your future career. If you take up language courses abroad you become not only fluent in new language, but also learn about traditions, culture and lifestyle of the target language country.
