Football (Soccer) Football is the most popular team game in Britain

There are plenty of professional and amateur soccer clubs all over Britain.

Darts Darts is a very popular pub game.

Golf Scotland is traditionally regarded as the home of golf.

Rugby Rugby originated from Rugby school in Warwickshire.

Players can carry the ball and tackle each other.

There are two different types of rugby - Rugby League and Rugby Union

Racing There are all kinds of racing in England - horse-racing, motor-car racing, boat-racing, dog-racing, and even races for donkeys.

Horse-racing A lot of people are interested in the races and risk money on the horse which they think will win.

Boat-racing The most famous boat-race in England is between Oxford and Cambridge.

Tennis Tennis tournaments at Wimbledon are known all over the world.

The British also like to play baseball, hockey, grass-hockey.

Sports in the USA

In the USA people participate in swimming, skating, squash and badminton, tennis, marathons, track-and-field, bowling, archery, skiing, etc.

baseball Baseball is a team game derived from the English game of cricket.

basketball Basketball is a game which nowadays is popular all over the world.

Football American football derives from the English game of rugby.

Hockey The sport of hockey, considered by many to have been invented in Canada after a game called shinny, has history dating back to the late 1800s.

Ice hockey started to become more popular, and professional leagues started popping up in the United States, the first being the International Professional Hockey League with teams from Pennsylvania and Michigan.

In 1910, the National Hockey League, or NHL, was created in Canada.

Sport in Russia

Sport in Russia has always been popular. Perhaps more then a half of Russians have tried some kind of sport in their childhood. Some of them even in several types.

Actually, a healthy way of life is again coming into fashion in Russia today.

Tennis Today Russian tennis players are famous all over the world.

Sharapova, Kurnikova, Kafelnikov, Miskina are only the best known Russian tennis players.

Ice-hockey Ice-hockey is another one successful sport in the country.

Football Another sport which is widespread in the country is football.

Russians have already thought up a lot of jokes about their football team.
