The Schoolboy Footballer David Beckham was born in London in 1975. His father and mother, Ted and Sandra Beckham, were big football fans. Every Christmas little David had a new football or a new football shirt with symbols of Manchester United.

A FUTURE FOOTBALL STAR

David wasn’t very good at school.But he liked playing football. He did it every every day after school, usually with friends or with his father. David was small and thin , but his legs were strong. She was a very famous singer, he was only a footballer. Soon they became good friends. In July 1999 they got married . It was a big story in the newspapers: “Football star marries singing star”.

In 2002 the final games of the World Cup were in Japan and Korea. The England players arrived in Tokyo before the final games and went to their hotel in bus. There were a lot of Japanese people – England fans. They were shouting : “Bekkamu!” It was David’s name in Japanese. In June, 2002. England beat Argentina 1- 0, David scored the only goal.

A Family Man

David loves children. He gives a lot of time and money to sick children. In March 1999 Victoria had Brooklyn, their first son. David became a father. Then in 2002 Romeo was born. Their third son, Cruz, was born in 2005. The Beckhams are a united family. David’s photos are always in the newspapers and on television.

In 2003 Real Madrid “bought” Beckham for £25,000,000. David moved to Spain. Real Madrid and its players - Zidane, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Figo — are famous in every country in the world. Children in many countries know his name. They play football in his T-shirts. They want to be famous. They want to be like David Beckham.

Now David has a new white shirt for Real Madrid. He has a new number, 23. But he is the same David Beckham.
