NEW YEAR!!! New Year in Britain is celebrated on January 1, the first day of the first month. It is a public holiday. Many people hold or attend parties in the evening to say goodbye to the old year and to welcome the new year. The custom of exchanging gifts on New Year has become widely popular in Britain. In England the children rise early on New Year so that they can make rounds to neighbors and singing songs. The children are given sweets, coins, apples and mince pies for singing.

Victory Day Victory Day is a great holiday for the country and for every Russian family.= Victory Day is a great holiday not only for the country, but also for every Russian family. Victory Day is a holiday that commemorates the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany  in the Great Patriotic War.

The 8th of March. International Womens Day is celebrated on March 8 every year.   Women’s Day is not celebrated in Great Britain. The British celebrate another wonderful holiday in spring. It’s called Mother’s Day. The International Women’s Day is one of the most favourite holidays among Russian women because there is a nice tradition to congratulate and give bunches of spring flowers and presents to our mothers, grandmothers, sisters and all women on this day. In the morning men go to the shops to buy flowers and sweets. They also help to do the housework and cook something delicious for dinner. Children help their mums to lay the table and wash up. All members of the family are well dressed.

International Womens Day

Mother’s Day!!! Mothers Day comes on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when British people honour their mothers Many people send their mothers a card or a gift. Some people take their mothers to a restaurant for dinner.
