ANIMALS-SYMBOLS OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

The symbol of Russia is the bear. It is a wild predator which lives in the forest. It is very strong and dangerous. But in tales it can be very kind. A bear climbs the trees very well can swim and runs very fast. It has got long and thick fur and a little tail. This animal eats berries, mushrooms, fish, meat and different insects. It hunts other animals and is afraid of people. But sometimes it can be very dangerous. In 1980 the bear was the symbol of the Olympic Games in Moscow.

We can see the lion on the coat of arms of the UK because it is the national animal of that country. People call it the king of animals. The lion is very beautiful and powerful. It is big with rich mane, clever eyes and strong paws. This animal is usually of orange colour. The lion lives in the forest where it hunts different animals.

Kangaroo is on the State Emblem of Australia as it is the national symbol of that country. It is on some Australian coins, too. There are more kangaroos than people in Australia. They are very big marsupial mammals. They can be very big and very small. They can run very fast. This animal is an object of hunting because its meat is very good for health. Another symbol of Australia is the emu. Emus are very large birds. They live in Australia. They are very tall. They cant fly but they can run very fast. They live for about 30 years. They eat leaves, fruit and insects and drink a lot of water. They also like sitting in the mud.

The Bengal tiger is the national animal of India. It is the biggest cat in the world and it is very strong. It has got sharp teeth and claws. Its fur is red or orange with black, grey or brown stripes. The tigers hide in tall grass and hunt big animals like deer. They are very beautiful. People know that the national animal of China is panda. It is a cute black and white bear with large black spots around its eyes. The Giant pandas live in the bamboo forests of Central China. They eat bamboo and can eat about 10kg of it a day. Also pandas eat grass, mushrooms and even little animals. They have got strong legs and sharp claws so, they are very good climbers.

The elephant is the symbol of the Kingdom of Thailand. It is one of the biggest mammal in the world with a long trunk and two big tusks. People think that these animals are very clever and have good memory. Wise and strong animals help a man to carry heavy things. They are saint in Thailand because people think that they can bring good luck and success. Besides, we can see them on Thai coins.

ANIMALS-PETS

I have got a dog, Kelly by name. She is a Yorkshire Terrier. This breed is very popular, in fashion in other words. People often take their pets to different exhibitions to show how they are beautiful and clever. The owners take them for a walk and carry them in bags. My dog is small and very pretty. She has got little ears, a black nose and big brown and clever eyes. But her tail is not very big. She answers to her name and understands everything I ask her to do. She likes to walk and to play with a ball. She is very playful, funny and cute. I like my pet very much.

My pet is a hamster. Her name is Shustrik. Some years ago my parents gave me two white hamsters of jungar breed on my birthday. Unfortunately, last summer one of my pets died. Now Shustrik lives alone in a big cage. I try to play with her because I dont want her to feel lonely. We play together every evening. Shustrik is nice and funny. She likes to drink water and run in the wheel especially at night. My hamster sleeps a lot. She likes sunflower seeds and makes stores of them in her house. I love my white, fluffy pet.

We keep a cat as a pet. Her name is Musya. She is ten years old. Musya is very beautiful. She is grey with clever green eyes and long whiskers. When my parents brought her home she was very small and funny. My cat was fast and active when she was little. She loved to play with a ball very much. Now she is old and lazy. But sometimes she fights with my dog. Its very funny to watch them fighting. I love my cat very much.

RIDDLES

This animal lives in the forest. It can be of different colours. It hasnt got any paws but it is very fast. Some of these animals are dangerous because they can bite people. It is a very beautiful animal which lives in the forest because it is wild. The animal is red, grey or black and white with a beautiful and fluffy tail. In tales it always hunts cocks or hens. This animal is very cunning. It is a very, very big mammal. It can be white, black or grey. It has got a large head and a fat body but its legs are short. Its tail is thin and short. The skin of this animal is thick without any fur. It has got one or two horns. It cant be a pet at all because it is wild.

The name of this animal means “no water”. It is cute, soft but wild and it cant make a good pet. It is a marsupial animal. It has got strong arms and legs, sharp claws for climbing because it lives in trees. This animal never drinks as it gets all the liquid it needs from eucalyptus leaves. It can swim very well but during the day it sleeps. This is an animal of North Africa and Middle East. It is brown with short fur and long, thin legs. It has a large body and a long neck. It has got a hump on its back with fat in it. It lives in dry places like deserts and can go three weeks without water. It carries people on its back for miles. It is a friendly animal.
