London [ˈlʌndən] is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom.

It’s situated on the Thames River.

There are a lot of places of interest in London. Among them there are: Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge, the Tower of London. Let’s look at them!

Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s official London residence. Tourists always go to see the ceremony of changing the Guard there.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most beautiful churches in London. It is very old. There are many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there.

The Houses of Parliament is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons) sit.  Parliament has met here since around 1550.

St Paul’s Cathedral is located within the City of London on Ludgate Hill, the City’s highest point.

St Pauls Cathedral was built between 1675 and 1711 by Sir Christopher Wren. The 1st stone was laid in 1675 when Wren was 43 years old, and the last stone was put in lace by his son 35 years later.

London has many fine squares. Some of them are quiet, others are busy like Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar Square is the central square of the city.

In the middle of the square there is a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson.
