Our first station is… Redcliff’s camera This is one of the most fascinating buildings in the city. It is situated in the centre of the city – on the Redcliff’s square. It was build in 1737. It was the first round library build by John Redcliff. He was a graduate from the University of Oxford. He left most of his inheritance and medicine books to this library.

The next station is… The Carfax tower The tower is situated on the cross of 4 the main road of Oxford. It was built in the 12th century. But it was destroyed in 1820 because of its unsafe state, then it was built again, and again destroyed in 1896 to have a road on that place.

The third station is… the castle in Warwick This is the first castle in England. It was built in 1068 by William the Conqueror. The best place for building was chosen – geographically it is situated in the centre of the country and this place is still called Midlands.

The castle in Warwick is a unique building . It still lives with active life of Middle Ages due to special historically educated actors and actresses. Tourists have an opportunity to communicate with heroes of the Old Enland such as The King, commanders and others.

The next station is… The botanical Garden of Oxford It was founded in 1621 for growing medicine herbs. Now it contains the collection of 8000 plants. It shows the style of university gardens at Stewards’ and Tudors times.

Now the station of Trinity college This college was founded by Henry VIII in 1546 as a result of union of two colleges – Kings Hall (1337) and Michaelhouse (1324) It is considered to be the biggest and the richest among all Cambridge colleges. The English state that the first person who has the biggest quantity of land is The Queen, the second place has church and the third – Trinity college.

The library is a memorial for 155 graduates died during the first world war.

And the last station is… The University of Oxford (Oxford University) This is the oldest English university founded in 1117. At Middle Ages only clergymen studied here. Then all people of high status studied at the university. In the XIII there was a conflict between students and citizens, after that a group of students and teachers ran away and founded Cambridge university.

The university consists of 38 colleges and 7 called so “hostels” – schools of closes type, not having the status of college.
