Antarctica is at the bottom of the world. It is the coldest, the windiest and the driest continent on the Earth. This land doesn`t belong to any country.

In the summer the weather is quite mild-about 0C.There are a lot of gales. The sun never sets.

In the winter it is freezing cold, the temperature drops to about -40C. The sun doesn`t rise at all.

THE WILDLIFE IS INCREDIBLE

There are seals, humpback whales, penguins, and some sea birds.

Many scientists do surveys of the fauna and flora of Antarctica at the research stations.

The conditions are severe, so newcomers have to take special survival courses with ski-doos and sledges, they learn what to do if they fall down a crevasse.
