The European Football Championship in 2012, commonly called EURO -2012, will be the 14 th European Football Championship for the European countries.

Football tournament is held every four years under the leadership of UEFA. EURO -2012 will be held in Ukraine and Poland. It will begin on June 8, 2012 and will end on July 1, 2012.

UEFA EURO 2012 Poland - Ukraine is the official name. The competition is held every four years since 1960. Initially the tournament was called the European Nations Cup, and in 1968 it was named the European Football Championship.

The initiator of the tournament was a Frenchman Henri Delaunay. The first European Championship was held in France in 1960. The winner receives a trophy of Henri Delaunay, made by the Parisian jeweller.

The USSR National Football Team became the first champion in the history of this tournament.

Donetsk is an unusual and interesting city with unique culture and beauty, the city of mines and roses, and these sights will surprise and enchant visitors.

Donetsk can show off many signs and names of streets in English before a great number of tourists.

87 hotels are prepared in Donetsk for meeting guests. The most fashionable and expensive hotels are Victoria, Shakhtar Plaza, “Donbass – Palace”.

Two parking lots are built in Donetsk and two camping sites will be set up from the southern and northern entrances to the city.

Donbass Arena is the stadium of the European standard. It is located in the picturesque place of ​​the city. A design of the stadium was constructed by the world famous building company Arup Sport in the form of an oval like a flying saucer. Its special feature is a glass face of the stadium and the night lights illuminate the stadium like a diamond. It is called the ‘Donbass Diamond’.

New roads and wide streets, modern airport and bus-stations, colourful trams and trolley-buses, comfortable eurobuses and high-speed trains will meet the participants, football fans and foreign tourists.

Before the football fans’ arrival Donetsk militia has changed its name and signs into lightboxes “Militia” in Ukrainian and “Police” in English and our ‘policemen’ learn to communicate with foreigners with the help of the phrasebooks.

Donetsk Horse Police has got 20 horses at their disposal. Donetsk militia has also bought new shepherds to search for explosives at the football matches.
