Разработка урока английского языка в 8 классе по учебнику М.З.Биболетовой «Enjoy English»

Тема урока: Роль книг в нашей жизни («The Role of Books in Our Life»)

Общедидактическая цель:

создать условия для систематизации и применения знаний и умений учащихся в знакомой и новой учебной ситуации.

Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации изученного материала по учебной теме «Досуг и увлечения. Чтение книг».

Форма урока: практическое применение знаний и умений в знакомой и новой учебной ситуации.

Цели урока:

  • образовательная: расширять лингвострановедческий кругозор, обобщить знания по изучаемой теме;

  • развивающая: развивать коммуникативные умения, развивать умение рассуждать;

  • воспитательная: формировать культуру общения, способствовать формированию уважительного отношения к книгам.

Практические задачи:

развивать речевые умения устной монологической и диалогической речи.

Методы обучения:

объяснительно-иллюстративный метод, метод проблемного изложения.

ФОПД: фронтальная, индивидуальная, парная, групповая.

Средства обучения: учебник английского языка М.З.Биболетовой «Enjoy English»

Ход урока.

I Организационный момент.

Приветствие. I'm glad to see you. Now let's smile to each other and say "Hello" to your face partner, say "Hello" to your shoulder partner. I wish you to be active, creative and don't forget to smile to each other.

Listen to the riddle and guess what it is. "They are our teachers, people buy them, people give them as presents, people go to the library to read them"

It has no mouth but speaks.

It is not a tree but it has leaves.

It is not alive but it can be a good friend.

Yes, it is a book. Today we'll talk about books. The theme of our lesson is "Books in our life"

I have read all the riddles, I have read all the rhymes

I have read all the stories of terrible crimes

Of clever inspectors and generous kings

Of beautiful maidens and magical things

I have read about pirates and dragons and knights

About aliens, space and galaxy flights

I have read about wizards and witches and-when

I have finished with this, I'll start all over again.

III Речевая зарядка.

1.Teacher: Nowadays many people believe that reading is boring and that books are not necessary. Do you agree?

Возможные реплики учащихся:

P1:Yes, I completely agree with this opinion. I don't like books, I prefer cinema and computer.

P2:No, I can't agree with these words. They are absurd. Books teach us! …

You see, so many people so many thoughts. But in all centuries there were the people who wrote books and there were the people who read them.

2.Teacher: What do the words "reading and books" mean to you?

3.Teacher: Are books worth reading or are they a waste of time? What's your opinion?

5. Teacher: Answer my questions:

Do you prefer to read books or magazines? (I prefer to read books.)

Do your parents help you to choose the books you read? (My parents sometimes help me to choose the books I read.)

Do you do any extra reading? (Yes, I do. I do sometimes extra reading.)

6. Guess what kind of book it is, listening to the definitions:

- a long written story about modern people and events (a modern novel)

- a book about some person's life (a biography)

- a story in which frightening and often unnatural things happen (a horror story)

- words of language with the information about their meanings, pronunciation, etc. (a dictionary)

- facts about almost anything and everything (a reference book)

- a story about events, sometimes invented, which happened to someone somewhere (an adventure book)

- a short story that teaches a lesson, a story in which animals or objects speak (fairy tale)

- a book or a play that tells a very exciting story especially of crime and violence (thriller)

- a book about untrue scientific events (science fiction)

- a book about American frontier of the nineteenth century (western)

IV. Развитие навыков аудирования.

Look at the blackboard. You can see portraits of famous British writers. Listen to the stories about them and guess their names.( Учащиеся угадывают фамилию писателя по краткому описанию.)

An English writer of novels and plays, famous especially for the novel "Brighton Rock". (Graham Green)

2.Teacher: As I know people of different ages like to read fairytales. Do you like to read them? Why do you like fairytales? (They are exciting. They usually have an interesting plot. Fairytales are easy to read. There a lot of amusing and witty fairytales.) Now I shall describe the fairytale and you will guess it. Are you ready to start?

This story is about three brothers. They wanted to build three houses in the wood. But the wolf destroyed two of them. (Three Little Pigs)

This poor girl had no mother but she had a stepmother and two stepsisters. She was unhappy and worked a lot but at the end of the story the prince married her. (Cinderella)

The girl wanted to visit her grandmother but she had many problems on her way. The hunters helped her to see her granny. (Little Riding Hood)

This beautiful girl lived in water. She fell in love with the young man. She couldn't live among people and was very unhappy. (Little Mermaid)

The bear had many friends. They lived in the forest and the fairy tale is about their adventures. (Winnie-the-Pooh)

This fish could do everything the old man and woman wanted her to do. But the old woman was greedy and selfish and finally they lost their property. (Golden Fish)

V.Зарядка для глаз. Релаксация.

Teacher: Are you tired? Let's have a short rest. Follow me: eyes up, eyes down, eyes left and around. And eyes up, eyes down, eyes right and around ( 3 times). Blink your eyes. Then, close your eyes, listen to the sound of nature. Begin to create a picture in your mind of a place where you can completely relax. Imagine what this place needs to be like in order for you to feel calm and relaxed.

Игра "Кто есть кто?". Один учащийся читает отрывок о писателе, а другие должны угадать о ком идет речь.

And now you have some extracts about famous Russian, English and American writers. Try to guess: Who is who?

Many well-known expressions come from this writer. He also wrote some very good poetry, especially the Sonnets. He was also an actor, played in the theatre "The Globe"/ he wrote "Much Ado About Nothing", "The twelf Night". (William Shakespeare).

The writer wrote much about the North, Alyaska. He showed strong people who strugged with the forces of nature. A great role in the books played animals, the relations between people and animals. The famous works are "Martin Iden" and "White Fang". (J. London)

His real name was Foe, and he was about 40 years old when he changed this name. Books about new discoveries were very popular in the 18 century. In one of the magazines appeared a story about a Scotch sailor, who lived on a desert island quite alone for 4 years and 4 month. The hero of this writer spent on a desert island 26 years. He is an English writer. He was born in India; traveled much. Wrote fairy-tales for his son and daughter. The main characters of his fairy-tales are animals. The best known book is "Just so stories". (R.Kipling)

He was born in Moscow and received his early education at home. He composed his first poem at the age of eight. He created a lot of poems and fairy-tales. This greatest poet and writer created literary Russian. (Pushkin)

He was born in 1818. He studied in Moscow University. He was the greatest writer of the 19th century. He knew the features of the women's character very well. (Turgenev)

He was born in 1828. His father took part in the war of 1812. This writer received his education at home. He created short stories for children and novels for adults. His best known work consists of four parts. (Tolstoy)

He was born in Moscow. His mother died when the poet was only three years old. He studied several foreign languages. In 1837 he was sent into the active military service in the Caucasus. He was killed in a duel in 1841. (Lermontov)

He was born in 1860 and died in 1904. He was the third of the six children. He was a student of Moscow University and wanted to become a doctor. He wrote a lot of stories and plays. He got a reputation of a gifted short-story writer and dramatist. (Chekhov).

VIII. Развитие навыков диалогической речи.

(Между двумя учащимися разыгрывается диалог "В библиотеке".)

Each of us has many books at home. But we can't have all books. Sometimes we go to the library and take the books there. Let's act the dialogue.

Cl.: Good morning!

L.: Good morning!

Cl.: I have brought the book back.

L.: How did you like the book?

Cl.: I read it from cover to cover. Have you got any other books by this author?

L.: The books of this writer are in great demand now.

Cl.: What have you to offer?

L.: What kind of books do you like?

Cl.: I prefer historical or thrillers.

L.: Have you read anything by Pikul? Here is a book< I'd recomment you to read. The novel is a great success.

Cl.: Thank you. And I need something on Gogol. I have to write a composition.

L.: Take these books, they will be usefull. Anything else?

Cl.: No, thank you.

L.: Remember, that you may keep books for a fortnight. Put your signature, please/

Cl.: Thank you for the books. Good bye!

IX. Совершенствование навыков монологической речи.

А) Монологические высказывания о любимом авторе и книге. По желанию рассказывают 2-3 учащихся.

Have you known famous English or American writers? What books of him did you read? Please, tell us about your favourite writer.

My favourite English writer is Walter Scott. You can take his famous book "Ivanhoe" from our school library. I read this book when I was only 10. It is a historical novel about the history of England. The main character is Ivanhoe. He is a brave and handsome young man. I think all young girls can fall in love to this kind, strong and generous Ivanhoe.

Б) Sometimes we don't find books of modern writers at the library.

What do we do?

What do we use?

Yes, we use the Internet.

Is it good or bad to use the Internet?

Yes, it has good and bad points.

What does … think about the Internet?

  • you can find books of modern writers

  • you can work at home

  • you can find information about writers

But using the Internet is not always good.

E-books are the books of the future?

But sometimes we can't carry the internet with us. What shall we do?

Nowadays this thing is very popular among students. What is it?

Yes, it is an e-book.

Have you ever heard about it?

Maybe as the Internet it has its advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages

  • E-books are very handy;

  • Students use them instead of printed books;

  • They can store lots of books in their memory;

  • They have modern software.

  • It is easy to carry e-books instead of traditional bags with lots of heavy books.

  • You can use it everywhere.

Disadvantages

  • They have small screen;

  • Nowadays they are expensive;

  • They need electricity.

If you have a chance to choose a printed book or e-book what will you prefer.

We have told about writers and their books, we have remembered the types of literary works and we have known about your reading habits. I hope you understand that without books our life will be empty and boring. Read good books, enjoy them and think.
