The Theme: When is your birthday?

Practical aims:

  1. to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading.

The objectives:

  1. to present new lexical material

  2. to practice lexical material presented

  3. to read and practice the dialogue

Educational aims:

  1. to develop Ss` mental abilities such as memory, imagination, logical thinking, creativity.

Cultural aims:

  1. to extend Ss` knowledge of the world they live in

  2. to get Ss` acquainted with the life of the target language speakers.

Teaching aids: blackboard, cards, posters

Literature: Ayapova T.T. "English-5" Student's book, Rogova G.V. "Methods of teaching English"

  1. Calling the register:

  • Who is on duty today?

  • I'm on duty today.

  • What date is it today?

  • Today is the 8th of December

  • And what day is it today?

  • Today is Tuesday.

  • Is everyone present?

  • Yes, everyone is present.

  • Thank you. Take your sit!

  1. Checking up of home task

  • What was your home task, P4?

  • Our home task was Ex.11 on p.76

(Students read and translate the sentences)

  • Very good!

  1. Setting the tasks & phonetic drill:

  • Today, children, we`re going to learn new words, read and practice the dialogue about birthday. But, first of all, let's listen to the new tongue-twister. First I`ll read:

Spring is green

Summer is bright

Autumn is yellow

Winter is white

  • Now let's repeat in chorus.

  • P2, will you read it? P3, will you read it?

  • Well-done, children!

  1. Oral practice

  • Pupils, look at the blackboard, listen and repeat our new words.


Pupils, let's sing a song about our theme, "Happy birthday".

  1. Listening &Reading :

  • Now, open your books at p.78 Ex.3. Now, I'll read the dialogue, listen to me attentively! Then you will read it! Is the task clear?

  • Now you have to prepare the dialogue about birthday with your partner. Are you ready?


I brought presents for you. You should choose one of them and name it in three languages.( Kazakh, Russian, English)


VI. Giving home assignments

  • Well, our time is up. Open your diaries and write down the home task. Your task for the next lesson is to learn by heart new words and a song "Happy birthday"

  • So, what have we done at our lesson?
