Helen Keller

-
Good morning boys and girls! (Good morning!)
-
I'm glad to see you. (We are glad to see you too.)
-
OK. Let's start our work.
II. I'd like you to look at the blackboard.
Tolerance with respect to the actions and beliefs of others:
"Toleration . . . is the greatest gift of the mind"
Helen Keller
The theme of our lesson is 'Be tolerant and you will prevent conflicts'.
Look at the blackboard. Will you read the following words? Let's read them one by one: Terrorism confrontation discrimination exploitation friendship dialogue conflict trust equality solidarity jealousy war pluralism
Can you divide these words into two groups: the words that are related to 'tolerance' and the opposites of 'tolerance'?
+ -
Friendship, dialogue, trust, conflict, jealousy, war, terrorism pluralism, solidarity, equality exploitation, confrontation, discrimination
III. Listening Practice. Учитель организует задание упр.101 стр.133 из учебника и прослушивание диалога. Ученики должны прослушать диалог и ответить на вопросы из задания.
Listen to the interview and find out what questions the reporter asks and who is being interviewed. What do you think about preventing wars? Is it possible to prevent wars? What can people do to prevent wars? Should people be taught to be tolerant?
Ответы учеников: According to a politician's opinion: Laws and declaration can prohibit wars. Yes, that's the main thing to do. All countries should adopt some laws against war... and observe it.
According to a young woman's opinion: People should be taught to respect the rights of other people to live, to raise children and enjoy the beautiful things they are given by our Mother Earth.
You will have to listen to this dialogue again answer the question: 'What does 'to be tolerant' mean? To be tolerant is to respect the rights of other people. People are different from me, but they all have the right to their own ideas, traditions and religion. We all need to be respected.
Затем ученики прослушивают диалог во второй раз и отвечают на вопросы учителя:
Tell me, please: Should people be taught tolerant of each other? Is it important to be tolerant? Is it necessary to be tolerant every day? Are you tolerant? How tolerant are you? What does 'to be tolerant mean' for you?
-
We should be tolerant of other cultures, religions, ideas and values.
-
It is very important to be tolerant and we should learn to respect the opinions and values of other people.
Tolerance for me means - to help people with disabilities
- to respect other cultures
- to help people
- to support those who are weaker than you
- to learn to respect the opinions and values that are different from yours
- to resolve conflicts by peaceful means
- to understand that other people have the right to be different
- to teach people to respect human rights
Thank you. It was very interesting to know your opinions.
IV. Учитель предлагает прочитать отрывок из декларации прав человека, но перед этим учитель знакомит детей с новой лексикой из текста (читает и переводит их). Затем дети читают слова вслух.
