Easter

Мета:

  • практична: активізація комунікативних навичок учнів;

  • розвиваюча: розвиток мотиваційної сфери учнів, інтересу до мови і англомовних країн;

  • освітня: накопичення знань про святкування Великодня в англомовних країнах;

  • виховна: виховання поваги до культури, традицій та обрядів інших країн.


Завдання уроку:

  • вдосконалення аудіо навичок;

  • розвивати навички адекватно реагувати на репліку;

  • формувати мовленнєві лексичні навички.


Обладнання:

  • комп'ютер;

  • проектор;

  • карточки зі словами;

  • вирізані із паперу кролики;

  • кольорові олівці;

  • намальована корзина;

  • паперові яйця;

  • підручник для 5 класу ЗНЗ (п'ятий рік навчання). А.Несвіт «Англійська мова». Видавництво «Генеза», 2013.

Хід уроку

I. Warm Up

Good afternoon, boys and girls! Good afternoon, dear guests!

Today we are going to speak about Easter. (Слайд №1)

II. Introducing the Topic

T: What seasons do you know? What season is it now? (spring) (Слайд №2)

T: What spring holidays in Ukraine and English-speaking countries do you know?

(Слайд №3)

T: What religious holiday do people celebrate in Ukraine and in English-speaking countries? (Easter) (слайд №4)

T: And today I'd like to invite you to our Easter workshop. We'll play games, make and decorate things.

III. Phonetic Exercise

T: Let's listen to and read the poem and say what Easter symbols are. (Слайд №5)

P: Easter everywhere Rabbits soft and cuddly
Baby chickens, too.
Easter eggs for baskets
White and pink and blue.
Easter cards of greeting,
Music in the air,
Lilies just to tell us
It's Easter everywhere.

T: Well, what are Easter symbols? (rabbits or Easter bunnies, baby chickens, coloured eggs, greeting cards, also cookies, sweets and Easter cake, Easter baskets). Слайд №6

IV. Discussion

T: Look at these greeting cards. (слайд №7) What's the most popular animal - one of the images of Easter? (a rabbit)

T: Thousands of years ago a hare or a rabbit was a symbol of the moon. Also Celtic people believed that the hare chased away the spirit of winter.

P: Bunnies

Bunnies are brown,
Bunnies are white,
Bunnies are always
An Easter delight.
Bunnies are cuddly,
The large and the small.
But I like the chocolate ones
The best of them all.

V. Reading

T: Let's read the text about Easter Baskets and complete with the prepositions from the box below. Ex. 1 p.179

VI. Listening

T: Let's make our own Easter bunny. You have Easter Cards on your desks. Please, listen to the instruction and color it according to the instruction.

T: Well, let's have a look at our bunnies. Which is the most creative? Funny? Prettiest?

VII. Speaking. Checking Home Task

T: If you have a rabbit costume you may take part in an Easter parade in America or Great Britain. (Слайд №8) Your home task was to think of the holiday we have celebrated this year. Ex. 4 p.180

VIII. Cross-Group Discussion

T: Look at the screen. What Easter image can you see? (an Easter egg) Слайд №9

What do we do with the eggs on Easter eve? (dye and decorate them)

P1: People in Great Britain and America play different games with eggs. Parents hide eggs for children to find. Some English children spend the Easter morning hunting for eggs that the "Easter Bunny" has hidden from them. The child who finds more eggs wins a prize.

P2: Egg-rolling is a traditional Easter pastime. People roll dyed boiled eggs down a slope until they are cracked and broken. Слайд №10

VIII. Revising Grammar. Writing

T: Let's review some Grammar - Past Simple Tense. Слайд №11, 12, 13.

And now we're going to work with the book. You have to put the verbs into the Past Simple Tense. Ex.3 p.179

IX. Summary and Feedback

T: Thank you for your excellent work. Your home task for the next lesson will be Ex. 5 p.180. You are to read and complete the text with the words from the box given below. Слайд №14
