Урок английского языка в 9 классе по теме "TV or not TV?"

Цели и задачи урока:

  1. Образовательные: совершенствование навыков монологической речи, развитие умения читать с целью извлечения конкретной информации и детального понимания прочитанного, развитие умения аудировать с целью извлечения конкретной информации.

  2. Развивающие: развитие способности к обобщению, логичности и доказательности, способности осуществлять продуктивные речевые действия.

  3. Воспитательные: развитие умения работать в группе, воспитание уважительного отношения к чужому мнению, способностей к критическому мышлению.

  2. Текст "Television Unifies Us"

Ход урока.

  1. Организационный момент.

Good morning, dear friends! Today we are going to know what TV programmes you like, what you think about television. You have an opportunity to check up your knowledge.

  1. Речевая зарядка.

Do you like to watch TV? How many channels do you have? MTV channel is very popular among young people, isn't it? And what is your favourite channel? I like to see talk shows. And you? Are you a telly addict?

Finish the sentence: I like to……………on TV.

  1. Проверка знаний, полученных на предыдущих уроках.

Let's remember what programmes we can see on TV. (Слайд 2)

  • We can know about temperature, wind, rain, snow from this programme. (weather forecast)

  • When I want to know about the latest events in Russia and other countries I see this programme. (the news)

  • My mother likes to see such dramas about family life, but I think they are boring. (serials)

  • On such programmes people speak about their life, politics and other topics.(chat shows)

  • These films are based on real events. (documentary)

  • It is a mixture of music, dances, songs. (concert)

  • People answer questions and get money for it. (quizzes)

Listen to four teenagers, they told the TV reporter about their TV habits and about British TV programmers. Then answer the question what did they tell?

Now we are going to work in groups. Make up groups of four!

Ask your friends what programmes are their favourite and tell us what is the most popular programme in your group. Make up a story about this programme according to this plan:

-when it is shown

-what channel it is shown on

- what kind of programme it is

- who it is hosted by

- what it offers

Use words and phrases at page 76.

  1. Millions of people watch TV in their free time. Television dominates one's family life if the family watches it most of the time. Television informs, educates, entertains people but it is also a habit-forming drug impossible to resist. Various TV shows, such as quiz, music programmes attract a large audience. During TV quiz the questions are answered by the viewers at home. Then there are daily TV serials known as soap operas. Some people find them boring, others consider them to be good relaxation.

  2. There is also a lot of advertising on TV. A lot of commercial firms buy the time to advertise their goods. Advertising often annoys the public. The same commercials are repeated many times a day, which bores the viewers.

  3. Some people say there is too much violence on television, which has a bad influence on young viewers. Television often shows scences of violence, such as different accidents, crimes, disasters.

  4. But it is hardly fair to say that TV doesn't try to raise the cultural level of the people or develop their artistic taste. Many TV programmes are excellent: they are made in good taste and with great professional skill. Television brings into millions of homes not only news and entertainment, but also cultural and educational programmes. Good or bad, television brings the world into our home and brings us closer to other people. Besides, it is a good company for people who live alone.
