Цели урока:

Задачи урока:

- закрепить в речи лексику по теме Австралия

- практиковать в чтении текстов с извлечением нужных фактов

- контролировать знание страноведческой информации

Как вы думаете, о какой стране пойдет речь.

Совершенно верно. Эти животные не живут больше нигде в мире, кроме Австралии.

Сегодня вы увидите наглядно то, что уже изучили об этой стране.

Прежде чем мы будем смотреть презентацию, давайте просмотрим слова, которые даны у вас на листах.

Повторяйте за мной их произношение.

А сейчас вы будете смотреть презентацию и заполнять таблицу. Вам нужно будет вписать: год открытия Австралии, города, денежную единицу, население, достопримечательности, животных.

1. Australia is the only country in the world that covers an entire continent. It is situated in the Southern Hemisphere between the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

2. It is the sixth largest country in the world. It is the largest island and the smallest continent.

3. Aboriginal people arrived in Australia about 50 000 years ago.

They may have travelled from Asia.

4. Dutch were the first to visit Australia. It was in 1606.

In 1770 James Cook, the British navigator, discovered the eastern coast of Australia.

5. People called this land "terra australis incognita".

6. Now Australia is a member of the British Commonwealth of nations.

Formally the Queen of Great Britain, Elisabeth II, is the head of the state.

7. Population of Australia is more than 18 mln. people.

8. The capital of Australia is Canberra. It means "the place of meeting".

14. There is an unusual bird in Australia too. It is kookaburra. It is popular for its singing like laughing.
