«Scotland: the main cities of Scotland»

Цель урока: знакомство с городами Шотландии

Развивающие задачи:

• Развитие и формирование лексических навыков говорение по теме

• Развить интерес у учащихся к изучаемой теме

• Развить мотивацию к изучению языка, навыка языковой догадки, совершенствование внимания, памяти

Воспитательные задачи:

• Способствовать развитию самостоятельности студентов

• Формирование уважительного отношения к людям других национальностей.

Ожидаемые результаты урока: расширение объема знаний по теме;

развитие самостоятельного мышления; повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка.

Teacher: Dear,boys. Noday we'll speak about Edinburgh. It is the capital of Scotland. It will be interesting to know about the sightseeing of Edinburgh and about the industrial city, Glasgow. You'll listen the texts, then answer the true/false questions.

Now, please, pay attention to the new words:

to held - проводить

toy town soldiers - солдаты, принимающие участие в параде в честь фестиваля

to advertise- рекламировать

quests-гости

Teacher: Now, please, read the true/false questions. You must find the correct answer.Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland.

It is a young city.

Festival of Music and Drama is held every year.

V. Edinburgh

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. It is an old city. It is famous for its monuments. The most well-know is this monument to Sir Walter Scott in the centre of the city.

Edinburgh is the cultural centre of the country. Many art festival are held here. Edinburgh Festival of Music and Drama is held every year and is often visited by English and European quests. Toy town soldiers are advertising the Festival. But Edinburgh is no more a political centre. It is now less important than Glasgow.

X. Glasgow.

Glasgow is an industrial city. It has a population over one million. Glasgow is Scotland's principal port on the River Clyde. It has many chemical, iron and engineering plants, textile factories. But it is most famous for its shipbuilding docks. There are not many old buildings in the city. One of the most beautiful is an old cathedral build in the 12^th century.

Mitchell Public Library is also of interest. The Glasgow University was founded in 1450. The graduation day is always a holyday in the city.
