Цели и задачи:

Практическая: совершенствование иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции.

Воспитательная: воспитание уважения к культуре , обычаям, традициям казаков; воспитание культуры общения, поддержание интереса к учению и формирование познавательной активности.

Образовательная: расширение знаний учащихся, их кругозора.

Развивающие: развитие языковых, интеллектуальных, познавательных способностей, чувств и эмоций учащихся; развитие навыка самостоятельной работы, активизировать творческие способности кадет.

Оборудование: пособие «Honour and Glory»; картины с изображением казачьих праздников ; магнитофон; кассета; презентация и викторина в электронной версии

T: Each nation has its own holidays and traditions.

Today we will speak about Cossacks` holidays.

As you know from the history, Don Cossacks liked holidays and celebrated them brightly.

What Cossacks` holidays do you know?

P1: Trinity.

P2: Easter.

P3: the holiday of Veil.

P4: Shrovetide.

P5: Christmas.

T: Look at the pictures. You see Cossacks` holidays and names of the holidays. Your task is to match the pictures with the names of the holidays.

T: For todays` lesson I`ve asked you to prepare some information about Cossacks` holidays. What have you prepared?

P1: Shrovetide is celebrated in the week before Lent. The main dish of this festival is pancakes. The most popular entertainments are tobogganing, horse-riding, arrow shooting, fisticuff.

P2: Holy Trinity was one of the most popular Cossacks` holiday. It is celebrated in fifty days after Easter. On that day temples and homes were decorated with flowers and twigs. There was a lot of merry making, singing and dancing.

P3: The holiday of Veil is celebrated on October 14. It is a special holiday of the Don Army. The eve of the holiday is marked with an office for Dead. A parade of the troops was held on that dae.

P4: Easter was a major event in the life of the Don Cossacks. Preparations for Easter were long and careful. It is a tradition to colour eggs on this day. Coloured egg is a symbol of new life. From early morning Cossacks greeted one another with the words: Christ has risen from the dead. Indeed, he has.

T: Thank you very much. I see you know a lot about Cossacks` holidays.

T: But the Cossacks` most favourite holiday was Christmas. You know that on that day Cossacks celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ.

Now we`ll see the presentation about the birth of Jesus Christ.
