The building of The British Parliament is called the Palace of Westminster . It's also called the Houses of Parliament. Because there are two Houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
Aim of the lesson/Оқу мақсаты:
to give some information about the British Parliament, to give some grammar material about the use of the passive voice, to develop their skills of speaking and critical thinking on the theme, to encourage group interaction and discussions.

The Passive Voice
Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the action.
Example: My bike was stolen.
In the example above, the focus is on the fact that my bike was stolen. I do not know, however, who did it.
Sometimes a statement in passive is more polite than active voice, as the following example shows:
Example: A mistake was made.
In this case, I focus on the fact that a mistake was made, but I do not blame anyone (e.g. You have made a mistake).Simple

The building of The British Parliament is called the Palace of Westminster . It's also called the Houses of Parliament. Because there are two Houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

Victoria Tower is the tallest (98.5m) square tower of the Palace. It is a home of Parliamentary Archives. Millions of government documents are kept here. A flag flies on the tower when Parliament is sitting during the day.

Big Ben is a huge bell. It is 96.3 metres high . The bell was named after Sir Benjamin Hall, who rebuilt the building of Parliament. The first bell rang in 1859

The British Parliament consists of two houses:

House of Lords is located in the southern part of the Palace. The furnishings of House of Lords are coloured red. The members are not elected. Because they are aristocrats, lawyers, life peers and people of the church. They don't have much power, but can discuss and change laws.

House of Commons is at the northern end of the Palace. The furnishings in the House of Commons are coloured green. The members of the House of Commons are elected. The British people elect 650 members every five years. The leader of the party which wins becomes Prime Minister.
Teacher distributes question to pairs.

They discuss the text and make poster. Then they present their poster and evaluate each other's work.
They correct the false statements.
They give situations with the numbers.
