Тема урока: "Что мы знаем о США?".
Тип урока: "Комбинированный урок обобщения и закрепления изученного материала по теме "США"".
Цели урока.

Совершенствование умений и навыков устной речи, чтения.

Расширение лингвострановедческих знаний учащихся.

Формирование у учащихся дальнейшей мотивации к изучению английского языка.
Основные задачи.
1. Обучающие:
- активизация умений и навыков монологической речи по теме
"США", сформированных на предыдущих уроках;
- формирование умений и навыков поискового чтения с опорой на
языковую догадку;
- закрепление знаний лексических единиц по теме;
- расширение словарного запаса по теме.
2. Развивающие:
- развитие логического и аналитического мышления;
- расширение кругозора;
- развитие интеллекта и воображения;
- развитие интереса к историческому наследию стран изучаемого
языка.
3. Воспитательные:
- воспитание уважительного отношения к истории и культуре других
стран;
- формирование умения работать в группах, воспитание чувства
коллективизма.
Оборудование урока:
- аудиомагнитофон;
- компьютерная презентация, компьютер, проектор, экран;
- карточки с заданием для викторины;
- таблицы с заданием для чтения;
- тексты для чтения;
- доска.
Методы и формы обучения: групповая, фронтальная, индивидуальная работа.

- Pupils, do you like singing? Let's remember the song "This Land Is Your Land". Listen to the song and sing together.

Работа над темой урока (1-2 минуты).
- Did you guess what the theme of our lesson is?
- Right, the theme of the lesson is "How much do you know about the USA?"
Дают варианты ответов.
Викторина "Путешествуем по США" (15 минут).
- I know that all of you like travelling, and we are starting our travel across the United States of America.
You are divided into two teams. Each team should choose its name and captain.
- Well, you are ready to begin our cultural quiz.
On the screen you will see a picture and a question. You may discuss the possible answers, and then your captain will choose one pupil to give the right answer.
If the team cannot answer, your competitors have a chance to answer again and get one more point.
- Let's get started our game.

Придумывают название команды и выбирают капитана.
Каждая команда отвечает на один вопрос. За правильный ответ команда получает очко. Если ответ не получен, вторая команда имеет возможность ответить на тот же вопрос и получить очко.
Работа с карточками (3 минуты).
- Now each team will get some cards with a sentence.

Работа с таблицами для чтения (6 минут).
- I'll give you the tables. The task is to write down the words you know from British and American English that have differences in grammar, spelling and vocabulary. Write them into the first tow columns (before reading).
- Read the words you have just written.
Заполняют первые две колонки таблицы.
Читают записанные слова.
Чтение текста (3 минуты), ответы на вопросы учителя, выписывание слов (9 минут).
- Now read the text quickly.
- Answer my questions:
- When did the US leaders begin to talk about 'the American language'? Why?
Читают текст про себя.
Отвечают на вопросы учителя:
- After the War of Independence America became a free country, and its citizens were proudly christened 'Americans', and in 1802, US leaders began to talk about 'the American language'.
- Why are American and British English so different?
- There were settlers from different countries and all of them brought new words and expressions to the language. The USA became a 'melting pot'' of cultures.
- What differences are there between AE and BE?
- There are certain differences in pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and spelling between American and British English.
- Read the text again and write out the words from British and American English that have certain differences in grammar, spelling and vocabulary into the second two columns (after reading).
Выписывают слова из текста.
- Read the words you have written.
- Very well. As you see, English in America has its own character.
Читают выписанные слова, сверяют со словами на слайдах.
Подведение итогов, выставление оценок (2минуты).
Our travelling has finished. You worked very well today, and got good marks for the lesson.
