Тема В поисках рукописи

Класс 5

Цель: 1) практиковать в говорении(говорим о намерениях), в письме( описание событий в прошлом, предположение), в грамматике (past simple, present simple, imperatives, be going to V, Let's V for making suggestions, use sth to do sth)

2) развивать навыки устной речи, тренировать в аудировании, практиковать в чтении с целью извлечения информации и детальном чтении, развивать языковую догадку на основе незнакомых слов;
3) прививать интерес к изучаемому иностранному языку.

  1. Ask Pp about Jane and Dima's adventures in the previous lesson.

  2. Check homework.

  3. Ask if Pp know what Dima, Jane and the Governor want to talk about.


  1. Введение новой лексики. Словарная работа

1a Individual, class. To introduce and practise the topic vocabulary.
  1. Elicit / Explain the meaning of the words manuscript and tunnel and practise saying them. Ask Pp to look at the cartoons and read them.

  2. Ask Pp to write the numbers one to six in their exercise books. Pp fill in the gaps with the words from the box.

1b Individual, class. To practise listening for specific words.

Pp listen and check their answers.

Dear friends from Earth! Help us to find the old manuscript and we'll give you the microchip you need.

Jane:

Really?! You give us the microchip?

Dima:

And we can fix our navigation system? We're ready then.

Governor:

OK. Go to the cave near the castle, then go into it and go along the tunnel. Above the ground you'll see a big volcano on your left. Go along the dried-out river... But be careful in the desert and the ruins. Take… .

2a Individual, pairs, class. To introduce the new vocabulary.

  1. Ask Pp to read the words, guess their meanings and match the pictures and the words.

  2. Ask Pp to compare their answers in pairs.

  3. Check answers orally with the whole class.

  4. Practise saying the new words.

2b Class, individual. To practise the new vocabulary and to practise talking about

intentions.

  1. Ask Pp to answer the questions in pairs using the example and the phrases in the box.

  2. Elicit the answers.

3a Class. To motivate Pp for further discussion.

Draw Pp' attention to the symbol of danger on the map. Introduce the word skull. Elicit the meanings of the words lava and quick sands.


3b Groups. To practise making suggestions, accepting or refusing.

a) Divide Pp into four groups of three or forur. The groups throw the dice and decide which

part of the map they are going to explore: if their score is 6, they will take part A,

5 - part B (page XXX), 4 - part C (page XXX), 3 - part D (page XXX). If Pp get 1 or 2,

they should throw the dice again.

b) Ask Pp what things they would like to take with them. Elicit Pp' suggestions for

the symbols of luck. Help them with the vocabulary.

c) Give each group a relevant set of cards. Groups A and D get sets of cards

for parts A and D of the map. Groups B and C get two other sets of cards (for

parts B and C). All the cards have pictures/ sentences on one side and

prepositional phrases on the other side, e.g. between the lake and the rocks. Ask

Pp to put pictures down.

d) Tell Pp that they should look at the map, choose a card (but not pick it!) and

make a suggestion using a phrase on the card. Go through the example with the

class. Pp can only pick a card after they have made a suggestion. Then they turn

over the card and see what they have found in this place. Pp continue making

suggestions until all the cards have been used. Monitor and help with the new

vocabulary: a skeleton, sunglasses, a piece of mosaic. Write the new words

on the board and practise saying them.


3c Groups. To practise summarising the data.
  1. Divide Pp into new groups. Give each pupil in groups A, B, C and D a number from one to four and ask them to join the new groups according to the number.
  2. In groups of 1-4, Pp present their findings using the example and find out the place where the manuscript was.

3d Groups, class. To practise the topic vocabulary and to revise the past simple tense.
  1. In groups, Pp discuss their findings using the phrases and complete their reports.

  2. Elicit / Give two examples of Pp' reports, F1- We found a skeleton. We used a spade, a brush and a magnifying glass. We think that it was a man. He had big arms and legs. We think that he was a hunter and he was strong. He lived / hunted between the lake and the rocks.

F2 - We found a piece of mosaic in the rocks. We used a spade and a brush. We think that people used mosaic to decorate their houses. They could sail in the sea and hunt in the forest.

Monitor and help with the vocabulary, e.g. a piece of a burnt tree, make a fire, cook food on the fire. Check the use of the past simple tense


  1. Домашнее задание

Ask Pp to draw a picture of one of the findings and write a report about it for the History museum. Pp use Ex. 3d as an example.
