С визитом в Россию

Цели урока:

  1. Развивать иноязычную языковую компетенцию (способность учащихся использовать полученную информацию в различных ситуациях).

  2. Формировать интерес к культуре англо-говорящих стран.

Задачи урока:

  1. Развивать и совершенствовать лексические навыки по теме «Англо-говорящие страны»

  2. Расширять знания учащихся в области страноведения по теме «Англо-говорящие страны»

  3. Активизировать навыки монологической и диалогической речи

  4. Способствовать расширению знаний и представлений школьников об англо- говорящих странах

  5. Прививать любовь к культуре англо-говорящих стран через знакомство с ними.

Оборудование: карты англо-говорящих стран, карточки с названиями стран, эмблемы и флаги англо-говорящих стран, компьютер, мультимедийный экран, компьютерные презентации стран, жетоны, запись песни

Ход урока

Good morning, everybody! Attention please! Today we are meeting a group of students from different English-speaking countries. They came to our local school because we have arranged an English-Russian student's exchange. I hope we'll learn a lot of interesting and useful information about foreign countries and make new friends. Do you agree with me? Dear foreigners, tell us some words about yourselves, please.

  1. How do you do? My name is Kevin. I am from New York, the United States of America. So I am American. I am glad to meet you.

  2. Hello, I am Patrick. I am from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I live in Cardiff, Wales. Nice to meet you all.

  3. Good morning! My name is Roy. I am from Canada. I am Canadian. I live in Ottawa, the capital of the country. Pleased to meet you!

  4. My name is Jane. As for me, I am Australian. I am from Australia. My native city is Sydney, one of the largest and important cities in my country. I am lucky to be here.

Teacher: Thank you very much. We are happy to see you in Russia. I believe, you'll enjoy your visit to our country. You know the Russian Federation is large and beautiful. We love our country very much. What about you? Do you like you countries?

Students: Sure!

Teacher: O Key! Let's recite a poem together.

There are a lot of countries, beautiful and fine

But the country I like best is no doubt - mine!


Teacher: Now present your native countries, please.

Kevin: My country is large and powerful. It is washed by the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The capital of the USA is Washington DC. It is a political centre of the country. Barak Obama is the president. He lives and works here. Many people of different nationalities live in my country. We speak American English. I am proud of my country. It is great!

Teacher: Thank you, Kevin. Russian students have got some questions. Can you answer them?

Kevin: With pleasure!

Questions: 1. What bird is the symbol of your country? (an eagle).

2. Is the Statue of Liberty in New York or in Washington DC? ( It is in New York)

3. How is the flag of the USA called? (Stars and stripes)


Teacher: Let's listen to Patrick from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Patrick: The UK has 4 parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. My country is small. About 60 million people live here. London is the capital of the country. It is an old and beautiful city. The Queen is the Head of the UK. She usually lives in Buckingham Palace, when in London. People can speak Scottish, Welsh, Irish, but the official language is English. I love my country.

Questions: 1. Is your country an island state? (Yes. It is.)

2. Can you name the main symbols of Great Britain?

(They are Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral…)

3. What is the name of the British flag? (The Union Jack)


Roy: Canada is the second largest country in the world. It is big and beautiful. There are many lakes and rivers in my place. Canada has two official languages: French and English. I speak English as you see. Canada borders the US, shares Great Lakes and Niagara Falls with America.

Questions:1. What is the official emblem of Canada? (The maple leaf)

2. What are the most popular sports in your country? (Hockey and figure skating)

3. What country does Canada boarder? (The United States of America)


Jane: My country is the biggest island and the smallest continent. It lies between Indian and Pacific oceans. The population is only 19 million people. The capital of Australia is Canberra. English is the official language of the country. Sometimes Australia is called " The Lucky country". I am happy to live here, because the climate is nice, most of the days are sunny.

Questions: 1.What are the most popular animals of your country?

(Kangaroos, koalas, emu, dingoes- wild dogs)

2. Is the climate dry or wet? ( It is dry)

3. What season is it in Australia now? (Summer)


Teacher: Thanks a lot! It is time to relax. Let's play a game "Associations". I will name a word or word-combination, you will name the country associated with it.

It is a beautiful country with fine lakes, high mountains and wonderful attractive beaches. It is called "A green country". It is a country of good butter and nice horses. It is a small country, only 5 million people live here. The capital of this country is Dublin.

Students: It's Ireland.

Teacher: You are absolutely right! Now let's do the Quiz. Put in the countries. Write down the sentences in your copy-books.
