Урок-путешествие для 7 класса

« Travelling to the English-speaking countries»

Цель урока: повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка.

Задачи:

1. развивать навыки говорения;

2. работать над восприятием английской речи на слух;

3. расширять кругозор и способствовать целостному развитию личности учащихся

Оборудование: карта мира, компьютер, проектор, экран.

Ход урока:

1. Оргмомент.

T: I want you to draw your attention to the blackboard where the quotation from John Clark is written: "He that travels far knows much". I think thеsе words can be the motto of our lesson.

P: …..

T: Yes, travelling develops our outlook, travelling abroad helps you to study.

We'll make an imaginary trip to English-speaking countries.

T: We'll start our trip from the UK. Let's read a poem "England" (сопровождается слайдами из презентации)

England

England!

With all faults

I love thee still

I said at Gallic and have not forgot it,

I like the taxes when they are not too many,

I like a sea-coal fire, when not too dear,

I like a beef-steak, too as well as any

I have no objection to a pot of beer.

I like the weather when it is not rainy

That is I like two month of every year.

T: Let's read the poem line by line and then we'll translate it.

England

The climate of the British Isles is influenced by the Atlantic ocean. England is famous for its beautiful lawns and flowers.

Many people say that England looks like a large well-kept park.

The capital of England is London. London is an old city. It was founded by the Romans. They built a town on the river Thames.

There are four parts in London: the City, the Westminster, the East End and the West End. The City is the oldest part.

London is famous for its historical buildings, such as St. Paul's Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament or the Palace of Westminster, where you can see the famous clock Big Ben. Tourists come to visit theatres, museums and parks. The best thing about London is the parks. The main square of London is Trafalgar Square, where a number of famous buildings and monuments, including the National Gallery and Nelson's Column are situated. The square is popular with visitors who come to relax by the fountains there or to feed the pigeons. To the there is the National Gallery, it has got a fine collection of European paintings.

The Queen's official residence is Buckingham Palace. It is opened to the public and the ceremony of Changing of the Guard is a great attraction for tourists.

5. An excursion to the USA.

T: Welcome to the USA. Let's read the text about the cities and do the task: match the cities with the definitions

1. The city has little industry and no skyscrapers. The Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial are there.

2. It is the gateway to Alaska.

3. It is the largest city of the USA. It is the financial centre. The Statue of Liberty is there.

4. It is a very big city. Hollywood, where motion pictures and many TV shows are made, is there.

5. The city is the heart of the New England States. It was one of the first settlements. The famous tea party took place there.

6. The city is the birthplace of mass production of motorcars, and today it is the center of country's manufacturers.

It is the second largest city in the USA not far from Lake Michigan, it is a railway centre.
