Урок « Британская монархия»

Цели урока:

Учебная: Совершенствование лексических навыков аудирования, говорения по теме "Британский парламент", "Политическая система Британии ", «Британская монархия»;

Развивающая: развитие логического мышления, памяти, умения правильно обобщать данные и делать выводы;

Воспитательная: воспитание интереса и уважения к культуре и традициям страны изучаемого языка.

Ход урока:

Teacher: The topic of our unit is "British Parliament". But as we have already learnt that the political system of the UK is a parliamentary monarcy and parliament is not the only part of it. That's why I think it would be important to speak today about the British Royal family and the history of the Windsor House.

Pupil1: The history of the British monarchy counts more than a thousand of years. At first it was an absolute monarchy but in 1215, after the revolt, the barons made the king sign "Magna Carta", an agreement which restricted the royal power.

Teacher: Through the centuries the role of the monarch changed. One dinasty came after the other. The names of some kings and queens are mostly famous, such as King Henry VIII, who founded the Established Church of England, independent from the Catholic Church and the Pope of the Rome (although he was a cruel person, he married 6 times and executed 2 of his wives); Queen Elisabeth I, who made the British Empire so powerful; Queen Victoria, who ruled the country for 63 years. Unfortunatly, we don't have enough time to speak about all of them in details.

Pupil 3: For the last more than two thousand years the Windsor House has been on the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. So we offer you to get some information about this dinasty (см. Презентация «Виндзорская династия»).

Teacher: Attitude of the British population towards monarchy is various. Some of them think that monarchy is out of date today, some of them still consider it an integral part of the political system of their country. But most of the British enjoy reading articles about the Royal Family in the newspapers; crowds of fans greeted the wedding of Prince William and celebrated the birth of their heir as a national holiday. Everything that has the name "Royal" (Royal Mail, Royal Meteorological Society) in the UK means "of top quality". It shows great respect of the people to the monarchy. Even the words of the country anthem say "God save the Queen" ( музыка: национальный гимн Британии).

Pupil 4: As we have already learnt from the presentation Queen Elisabeth II rules the country now and is the symbol of the nation. She has not only ceremonial functions. The Queen today is the head of the state, the head of the executive and judicial branch of power, the commander -in-chief of the armed forces of the crown, the head of the Church of England the head of the British Commonwealth of Nations.The Queen

- opens and closes the Parliament;

- approves the appointment of the Prime Minister;

- gives the royal Assent to bills;

- gives honours such as peerages, knighthoods and medals.

Королева Елизавета II - живая британская легенда. Королева официально стала самым «долгоцарствующим» монархом Великобритании. Вот несколько поистине поразительных фактов о британской королеве.

Teacher: The royal power in the UK still observes hereditary principles. The Crown is passed on to the eldest son (or daughter if there is no son). Traditionally the heir is first crowned Prince or Princess of Wales. Queen Elisabeth II has a big family(three sons and a daughter). I hope you know that Prince Charles is the heir of the throne. Now our pupils will tell you about him.

Pupils 7-8: Project "Prince Charles".

Teacher: Although Prince Charles is the Heir of the Crown, his and Princess Diana's children William and Harry provoke even more vivid interest, especially Prince William , who is supposed to become the heir of the throne in the future. The next project will introduce Prince William to you.

Pupils 9-10: Project "Prince William

Teacher: So, children, today we've got some information about the Queen of the UK and the Royal family. We understand that the British monarchy is not only a tradition now. Queen Elisabeth II and her family play an important role in political and cultural life of the country.
