Тема «Выдающиеся люди Америки»

Учебные цели урока: совершенствование речевых навыков, развитие умения читать (с выбором необходимой информации), развитие умения воспринимать на слух информацию, развитие грамматических навыков (перевод предложений из прямой речи в косвенную).

Познавательный аспект: знакомство с фактами американской истории, связанными с президентами США и другими выдающимися политиками.

Развивающий аспект: развитие способности к формулированию выводов на основе прочитанного и услышанного, способности к выбору выражений, адекватных ситуации и способности осуществлять продуктивные и репродуктивные действия.

Воспитательный аспект: помочь учащимся осознать реалии культуры страны изучаемого языка.

Ход урока:

I. Aims of the lesson

Teacher: Dear student! You know, in February, Americans celebrate President's Day, which

honors the birthdays of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and all other past

presidents of the United States.That means when you get elected, there's automatically

a holiday honoring you- no matter how good you are at job.

Two of America's greatest leaders, G. Washington and A. Lincoln, were born in

February. Until the 1970s, there were two holidays celebrated in the USA: George

Washington's birthday (February 22), and Abraham Lincoln's birthday (February 12).

In 1971, President Richard Nixon decided that one celebration would do and changed

it into one federal holiday called President's Day. So now American kids have only one

day off school instead of two!

So, today we shall talk not only about these great leaders, but about the other

outstanding people of the USA too.

First let's remember the Presidents of the USA.

Teacher: We have read the texts about two great american politicians of the past - George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. What have you learned? I want you to refresh some information about them. Please, Kantemir, tell us about George Washington. (slide10)

5.After the war, Robert E. Lee wanted the Southerners to accept being beaten and rebuild their lives, so he said, "Make your sons Americans".

6.Harriet Tubman often repeated, "On my Underground Railroad I never ran off the track, and I never lost a passenger".

Have you ever heard about these brave people - Robert E. Lee and Harriet Tubman? If not I want you to find any information available to you and write about their lives.
