Famous people of Great Britain and the USA

Цели :

познавательный аспект:

знакомство с известными людьми Британии и США;

учебный аспект:

обучение чтению с извлечением нужной информации;

обучение аудированию с пониманием основного содержания;

развивающий аспект:

совершенствование навыков монологической речи по теме;

воспитательный аспект:

воспитание познавательного интереса и уважительного отношения

к культуре англоязычных стран.


Оборудование: интерактивная доска, тексты с тестовым заданием.


Ход урока

I. Оргмомент: рапорт дежурного.

- Good morning, boys.

-----------------------

- I'm glad to se you. Who is absent today?

------------------------

- OK. Let's start our work.


II. Речевая разминка.

T.: Nice to see you. How are you?

P.: I'm fine, thank you. How are you?

T.: I'm fine too. And what about you? How are you?

P.: I'm fine, thank you.

T.: I'm glad to hear that. The weather is pleasant today, isn't it?

P.: Oh, yes. I agree with you. It's rather warm.

Oh, no. I can't agree with you. It's cold.

T.: I'd like to ask you a question.

P.: You are welcome. What would you like to ask me about?

T.: Do you like English?

P.: Yes, I do. I like English very mush.

T.: What about you?

P.: I like English too.

T.: Why do you like it?

P.: It's easier than other subjects I learn at college.

T.: And what about you?

P.: I can't say that English is an easy subject to learn but it is useful when you

travel.

T.: What English-speaking countries do you know?

P.: They are America, Great Britain, New Zeeland, Canada, Australia and

others.

T.: Why has English become an international language nowadays?

P.: It is the international language of businesspeople, diplomats and politicians,

sportsmen, scientists, doctors and students.

T.: Do you enjoy learning English?

P.: To tell the truth, I don't enjoy learning this language. English grammar is

very difficult.

T.: What is the best way to learn grammar?

P.: I think the best way to learn grammar is to practice much and learn

the grammar rules.

T.: Do you have English every day?

P.: No, I don't have English every day.

T.: What do you like to do at the lesson?

P.: I like to read and to translate teхts.

T.: Do you like watching English Films?

P.: I like watching English films, but I don't understand everything.

T.: But to understand everything you need to learn English well. And now we'll start.


III. Проверка домашнего задания.

T.: It's time to practice today's vocabulary. Let's remember some English words and expressions.

Some of these people were awarded the Nobel Prize and your home task was to read short texts about them and their discoveries. Now your task is to match the information about discoveries with the names of scientists.

These three men were responsible for the discovery of the molecular structure of deoxyribonucleic acid ( D N A) in 1962.

He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1983 for his novels.

T.: You know the name of Alexander Fleming. What did he discover?

You have the sheets of paper with the text about A. Fleming. You must read it and . . .


1) Read it and put the verbs in Brackets into the Past Simple. ( Один ученик

работает у доски)

2) Find irregular verbs (be, have)

3) Read the text one by one with verbs.

4) Answer the questions:

a) Who was Sir Alexander Fleming

b) When and where was he born?

c) What did he discover in 1928

d) He received the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1945, didn't he?

e) When did he die?

Read the text, put the verbs in brackets into the Past Simple and find irregular verbs.

Sir Alexander Fleming _______ (be) a famous scientist. He was born in Scotland on 6th august, 1881. He _______ (study) medicine at St. Mary's Hospital in London. After the World War I, he ______ (return) to St. Mary's and ______ (work) there as a professor.

In 1915, he ______ (marry) Sarah Marion McElroy and they ______ (have) a son. He _______ (discover) penicillin in 1928 and ______ (receive) the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1945.

Fleming ______ (die) on 11th March, 1955. They ______ (bury) him in St. Paul's Cathedral.
