Schools

British education

Many children in Britain attend nursery school at the age of three, but these schools are not compulsory. In England you start school when you're five and you go to primary school. When you're eleven you go to a secondary school, either a comprehensive school or a grammar school. They are all the types of secondary schools. You may choose state or private school for studying. Pupils studied lots of interesting subjects. For example, they learn Computer Studies and Chemistry with practical experiments in laboratory. They can also study unusual subjects like photography and tourism.

Russian education

In Russia children usually start school at the age of seven. Their first academic year begins on the first of September. For the next 11 years of their lives September 1st will be a very special day for them - back to school, studies, meeting their classmates, new teachers and subjects.

School in Russia is divided into primary school (grades 1-4), junior secondary school (grades 5-9) and senior secondary school (grades 10-11). Kids study for 5 or 6 days a week. First the children learn at the elementary school. The children get there the elementary education. It means they learn to count, to read and to write. Also they begin to study foreign languages at the second form In the Russian Federation the academic year is divided into 4 terms with one- or two-week breaks between them and longer summer holidays.

Japan school

In Japan the education is very important. So the children must do well at school to get a good job in the future. The hard work starts at 12 when pupils leave primary school and move to junior high school. There is less relaxed and more competitive. They are about 40 pupils in each class and discipline is quite strict. Pupils are very polite. They don't ask questions to their teachers.

Japanese pupils go to school even on Saturdays. So they have 6 days of school a week. They also go to special extra schools in the evening, so they are busy most of the time. They have 3 or 4 hours of homework every night. The Japanese teenagers go back to school because that is when they have clubs - sports clubs, art clubs, English clubs and others. And children like their schools 'cause they have no time to be bored.
