Educational aims: to develop mental abilities (to be able to analyze, compare, contrast, memory, imagination, will power)
Practical aims:
(Objectives)

  1. to get acquainted with new vocabulary

  2. to practice the vocabulary

  3. to develop skills in reading and speaking

  4. to practice the grammar item


Cultural aims: 1. to extend pupil's knowledge of the world in which they live

2. to get acquainted with the life, customs and traditions of the target language speakers.


Language and linguistic materials: "During, while, for", new vocabulary/ American and British English.


The type of the lesson:
mixed


The kind of the lesson: learner-centered lesson


Methods: explaining, question-answer, brainstorming, comparing, giving information, acting out and vocabulary


Equipment:

a) teaching aids: blackboard, the computer, the interactive board, tape recorder

b) teaching materials:

the students' book "Almaty Kitap", the teacher's book, dictionaries, manuals, selected readings, visual materials (objects, realia, flashcards, sentence cards, wall-charts, posters, pictures, photographs, albums, maps, plans, slides, filmstrips)cards with exercises, audio-visual materials (sound film loops, films, movies), audio materials (typescripts, CD with typescripts, records, cassettes)
Literature: the students' book "Almaty Kitap", the teacher's book, dictionaries, manuals, selected readings.

The procedure of the lesson:

  1. Warm-up:

1) Objectives:
1. to practice skills in speaking
2. to practice the vocabulary
(American and British English, autumn and fall.)

2) Teaching aids and materials: poem "Fall"

3) Equipment: interactive board.

4) Steps: 5) Regimes:
1. The T presents the poem "Fall" on the interactive board. T --- Cl
The Ss listen to the poem.
2. The T reads the poem again. T --- Cl
3. The Ss show their understanding of the poem. T --- Cl
4. The Ss read the poem with the T in unison. T --- Cl
5. The T asks first bright, then average, last slow Ss. T --- S1, S2, S3 …

6) Assessment (Evaluation): verbal.

II. Checking of Homework.
1) Objectives:
1. to practice the grammar item ("during, for, while").
2) Teaching aids and materials: p.11 Student's book ,
exercises on the interactive board.

3) Equipment: interactive board, cards.
4) Steps: 5) Regimes:
1. The T revises the rule of the grammar item. T --- Cl
2. The Ss do the exercise on the interactive board on the theme. T --- S1, S2, S3 …
The Ss are to complete the sentences with the words
"during, while, for"
6) Assessment (Evaluation): verbal, marks.

Ш. Oral practice

1) Objectives:
1. to get acquainted with the new vocabulary.
2. to develop skills in reading and speaking.
2) Teaching aids and materials: pp. 13-15, Ex-s 1,2,3,4.
3) Equipment: Students' book, Teacher's book, dictionaries,
manuals, selected readings, visual materials

4) Steps: 5) Regimes:
1. The T presents the new vocabulary "American and British English
words" (Ex 1, p. 13) T --- Cl
2. The Ss read the words, understand the differences
between American and British English words and word combinations. T --- Cl
3. The Ss read the sentences with American English
and British English words. They are to replace
the American English words by British English words. (Ex 1, p. 13) T --- S1, S2, S3

4. The Ss are to write their own sentences with these new words. T --- S1, S2, S3
5. The Ss read the new words and understand their meaning. S1, S2, S3
6. The Ss read the text Ex 2, p. 14. S1, S2, S3
7. The T asks the questions in order to know the Ss' understanding. T --- S1, S2, S3
8. The Ss do Ex 3, p. 15 to practice the new vocabulary. T --- S1, S2, S3
9. The Ss do Ex 4, p. 15. They are to say if the sentence is true or false. T --- S1, S2, S3
