1) T: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy. Who rules the country in fact? The monarch or the Parliament? (Слайд 8)

P: Britain is a constitutional monarchy. This means that the monarch, at the moment Queen Elizabeth II, is the Head of State. The Queen is also head of the judiciary (all the judges) and of the Church of England, as well as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The Queen's constitutional role, however, is mainly symbolic. True power lies in the hands of the Prime Minister and his or her Cabinet. Nothing becomes British law without the monarch's signature, but the Queen would never refuse to sign a bill which has been passed by Parliament. The most important function of the Queen is ceremonial. On great occasions, such as the State Opening of Parliament, She is driven through the streets in a golden carriage, guarded by soldiers. Since Elizabeth II came to the throne in 1952, she has represented Britain in visits to most parts of the world. Prime Ministers come and go, but she carries on above politics, a symbol of British traditions.

2) P: Queen Elizabeth II is the 40th monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She has been on the throne since 6 February 1952, The Queen is married to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the son of Prince and Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark. (Слайд 9)

When Elisabeth was 13, she met Prince Philip of Greece. He was six years older than her. He came from the Greek royal family, but also had relatives in the Danish, Britain and Russian royal families. During the war he was in the Navy and that was when Elisabeth first saw him. Certainly at the time she was only a schoolgirl, but later they fell in love and in 1947 they got married. The next few years were very happy. They had their first children: a son, Charles, born in 1948, and a daughter, Anne, born in 1950.

6.Викторина"What do you know about the royal family?" T :

1) What is the name of the Queen's husband?

2) How many children have they got?

3) What are their names?

4) Who is the wife of the Prince Charles?

5) How many children has he got?

6) When was Prince William's wedding?

7) Where was his wedding held?

8) Who is his wife?

7. Знакомство с Парламентом и премьер-министром Великобритании. (Слайды 10-11)

P: It is the Queen who officially appoints the Prime Minister, but traditionally she always asks the leader of the party with a majority in the House of Commons. Nowadays the Prime Minister of the UK is Teresa May . (Слайд 10)

P: The British Parliament has two houses, or chambers: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. ( Слайд 11) The House of Commons is the most powerful and decides national policy, but the House of Lords can ask the House of Commons to rewrite certain parts of a bill before it becomes a new law. Конспект урока по английскому языку по теме Политическая система Великобритании(10 класс, Кузовлев В.П.)

There are 651 MPs, or seats, in the House of Commons. The 1203 members of the House of Lords are not elected. Some are life peers: they are members of the House of Lords, but their sons or daughters cannot be members. bishops. The majority (774), however, are hereditary peers, the heads of aristocratic families.

The Prime Minister appoints the Cabinet. The members of the Cabinet are the leading government ministers. The Prime Minister is the most important person in Parliament (Britain does not have a President). The party who comes second is the Opposition and forms its own Shadow Cabinet.
