2. Введение темы урока. -We'll begin our lesson with the poem.(слайд1)
Teacher: -The steppe in April, what more fair?
The scent of grass, the skylark singing
In crystalline transparent air,
The boundless steppe around me ringing
With wondrous music that from scores
Of tulips a magician draws.
-These verses were written by David Kugultinov in 70s or even 60s. I hope that our feelings to our native land have reminded the same, but I'm afraid, the steppe has changed.
Do you agree with me?
Pupils: Yes, we have to admit it.
Teacher: And today, as you can guess, the subject of our lesson is: ''Ecological problems.» We will continue discussing the ecological problems and the ways out of the situation. That's why you need to learn some more new words. Then we read some more information about the environmental problems.
3.Речевая разминка:
Teacher:- Every year a lot of people around the globe get more and more environmentally concerned. What are the most serious environmental problems now?
Pupil -There is water pollution, air pollution, the pollution of the environment and there is also nuclear pollution.
4. Проверка домашнего задания.
Teacher -What are ecological problems in Кalmykia?
Pupil 1(слайд 2) -In some parts of Kalmykia there are villages which have already been left by the people because their houses were half covered by sand. The outskirts of these villages look like constantly moving sand-hills. You can do nothing with this sand. It penetrates everywhere. Of course, the sight of such villages makes sad impression on anyone who happens to visit them.
And since everything in nature is interconnected this problem leads to other problems, which in their turn lead to many others and so on.
So, unjustified increase in the number of sheep was the reason for the soil degradation.
Pupil 2(слайд 3)-As for the wild life, now it is necessary to protect 24 mammal species and 60 species of birds, e.g., the steppe eagle, the skylark, the black -headed crane.
There is a special problem with saigas. These beautiful animals full of grace are dying out, partly because their emigrational routes which are crossed by roads and canals. And such valuable raw material as saiga horns is another cause of their extinction.
Pupil 3(слайд 4)-As for the vegetation of our Kalmyk steppes, here we have even more species of plants which should be under protection. According to the latest data there are 124 types of plants which are also in danger of extinction.
So in 1993 Kalmykia was declared a zone of ecological disaster. It was done also due to some other negative factors such as shortage of water and its bad quality.
Fortunately, man is by nature a creator not a destructor, at least, he should be. So in this respect there are some prospects or just some attempts to find solutions to all these problems. There are some special programmers within the framework of the government policy. For instance, in 1991 part of the Black Soils area was declared a national biosphere reserve and any industrial activities were forbidden on this territory.
5. Обучение чтению.
1. -We are going to read the text "Litter is a problem in our cities". It is one of the most serious problems in our country.
Litter is garbage - like food, paper and cans-on the ground or in the street. Where many people live together, litter is a problem. People don't always put their garbage in the garbage can. It's easier to drop a paper than to find a garbage can for it. But litter is ugly. It makes the city look dirty, and it spoils the view. The wind blows papers far away. Often they are difficult to catch. When they blow against a fence, they stay there. This fence is a wall of garbage.
Litter is a health problem, too. Food and garbage bring animals, which sometimes carry disease.
Some people want to control litter. They never throw litter themselves, and sometimes they work together in groups to clean up the city. In most places litter is against the law. The law punishes people who throw garbage on the streets. They usually pay a fine, and occasionally go to jail. Two famous sayings in the United States are: "Don't be a litterbug!" and "Every litter bit hurts!"
6.Let's have a rest and sing a song "Earth song" Michael Jackson.

Pupil -If people thought about the Earth before they throw something away, there would be much cleaner on our planet now.
Pupil -I want to say that there are many actions that each person can take every day. Save our planet!
-The lesson is over, good- bye!
