Students: 10th form students of secondary school


Objective:

1. Students will practice "Food" vocabulary.

2. Students will appreciate everyday colour-food rules for healthy life.

3. Students will use knowledge of "Food and health" for speaking.


Materials:

  • Student's book "Spotlight 10"/ Verginia Evans, Jenny Dooley, Bob Obee, Olga Afanasyeva, Irina Mikheeva. - M.: Express Publishing, 2012;

  • Laptop;

  • Projector;

  • Power Point presentation.


Types of interaction: individual work, whole-class activity, group work, work in pairs.

Teacher: Now look at the blackboard. You can see the words of wisdom "Tell me what you eat and I'll tell what you are". Read and explain them.

Students read the words of wisdom and discuss healthy eating habbits. They agree or disagree with the quotation and justify their opinion.

Teacher: Tell me, please what is the topic of our lesson.Yes, you are right. The topic of our lesson is "Food and health".

Students try to formulate objectives of the lesson.

4.Pre-reading

aim: to activate vocabulary

Teacher: Look at the screen. Which of the pictured items are fruits? vegetables? (ex. 1a p.102.)

Students answer using the picture.

Teacher: Now choose one card of a colour that you want (yellow, green, orange, red, blue, purple) and write down as many fruits and vegetables of this colour on your card.

Students take the cards and write down words on them.

Teacher: Unite into groups according to the colours (yellow, green, orange, red, blue, purple) and check yourselves. Then we will do it in class.

Teacher: Do ex. 2,3 p.102.
