</ "NARROW ESCAPE"- Lesson with video
Цель: - совершенствовать навыки употребления в речи лексических единиц по теме; - учить грамматически правильно употреблять временные формы Past Simple, Past Perfect, Past Continuous при пересказе текста; - формировать навык передачи содержания текста с опорой на картинку; - развивать навык аудирования, осознанного чтения, говорения; развивать память, логическое мышление; - воспитывать чувство ответственности, взаимовыручки и сотрудничества;
Оборудование: мультимедийная доска или компьютер для просмотра видео, картинки.
ХОД УРОКА
I WARMING- UP
Teacher: Good morning, children. Did you have a nice time yesterday? What did you do? Remember three things you had done yesterday before you went to bed and three things you hadn't done.
II MAIN BODY
Teacher: Do you remember the name of our unit? What is it? (A Brush With Danger) What does it mean? (It means that there is always a risk to be involved in an extremely dangerous situation and a chance fortunately survive unharmed.)
1. Presenting the aim and the topic
Teacher: Today we'll get know about the man who trapped in dangerous situation, how he coped with fear, didn't give up and hoped for the happy end. The aim of our lesson is to improve our listening and speaking skills.
2. Vocabulary practice Teacher: But first let's play Vocabulary Game. (Teacher opens the magic box with the words on separate pieces of paper taken from students' vocabularies. One by one they put a hand into the box and choose a piece of paper with the word, then explain the meaning of the word. The class should say the word written on the card). Words in the box : relieved, shake hand, waist, sink, drown, edge, exhausted, chin, grab, tide, thank, chest.
Task 1. Read the questions and circle the correct answers.
1. What is a deserted beach? a) an empty beach b) a crowded beach
2. What does sink mean? a) to move slowly upwards b) to move slowly downwards
3. What happens when the tide comes in? a) the sea moves up the beach b) the sea moves down the beach
4. What is quicksand ? a) deep wet sand you sink into as you try to walk on it b) sand that moves very fast
Task 2. Watch, listen and repeat. ( Students watch fragments of video and repeat words , phrases and sentences)

3. Watching and Listening
Teacher: Can you guess what the story will be about? (students' assumptions) Now watch and check your assumptions.

When Ted was out of danger he felt … A. desperate B. relieved
2. Complete the sentences.
One day, Ted was walking along …(a deserted beach). When the rain started falling, he started running on the sand at the water's …(edge). That's when he stepped into …(quicksand). The tide was …(coming in). He sank in up to his …(waist).
4. Reading
Pre-reading activity
Teacher: Look at the pictures. The man on the pictures is Ted Wilson. How does he feel in each one? Choose the correct adjective.

While-reading activity
Teacher: Read the text silently and put the paragraphs in the correct order.

Teacher: Read the list of events and put them in correct order.
5. Speaking
Teacher: Using the list of events and the pictures retell the story. Don't forget to use linking words and Past Tenses. (Teacher can ask some comprehensive questions to help the students retell the text.)
