London

London is the capital and the largest city of the UK. Its population is over 8 million. London is one of the largest ports in the UK. It stands on the River Thames. Traditionally London is divided into 4 parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End.

The heart of London is the City, its financial and business centre. There are a lot of banks and offices there. Many years ago the Tower of London was a fortress, a prison and even a Royal Zoo. It is now a museum.

Westminster is the political centre of London. The Houses of Parliament is the seat of British Parliament. Big Ben is one of the famous clock in the world. Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen. Many famous people are buried in Westminster Abbey including statesmen, musicians and writers.

The West End is the richest and the most beautiful part of London. The best hotels, shops and restaurants, clubs and theatres are situated there.

The biggest museum in London is the British Museum. It contains a priceless collection of ancient manuscripts, coins, sculptures and is famous for its library.

The East End is the district for poor people where working class people live.

One can say that the City is the money of London, The West End is the goods of London, The East End is the hands of London.

We walked through London's streets. We saw 1…………………………………… where all members of Parliament discuss the Kingdom's problems . Near this place we saw a very wonderful tower with a clock, 2…………………….. , a beautiful bridge - 3……………………….. which connect two banks of the river Thames.

Of course, we couldn't miss 4…………………………., the residence of the Queen and 5………………………… where many queens and kings were married or buried there.

At the last we saw 6…………………………… This building was used as a tower, as a prison but now it's a museum.
