Урок-соревнование " How is your English?"


The aims: 1.to enrich students' knowledge of the foreign language, to show the importance of being well-educated, to teach the students to work in the group, to help each other;2.to develop intellect, speech habits through speaking, reading, understanding, translating and writing, to make quick decisions and to express themselves in English; 3. to bring up students to be attentive, to foster their love to the subject.

The type of the lesson: nontraditional lesson.

The kind of the lesson: competition lesson.

The methods: answer-question, individual work, group work

Inter-subject connection: Kazakh, Russian.

The visual aids: an interactive board, riddles, proverbs, cards( tasks), puzzles, pictures, placards,

The procedure of the lesson:

1.Organization moment.- Greeting.

Teacher: Good morning, dear teachers and pupils! You are welcome to our "How is your English?" lesson. Let me introduce you the juries of our competition. They are teachers in our school. They are: Kirychek V.V, Zhanturina Z.B, Dusembaeva A.G,

Now let's begin our competition. The lesson will pass as a competition between two teams. Let me invite our teams.

The first team is "Eagle" and the second team is "Tulpar"

1.The first part of our competition is introduction of teams.

Teams introduce themselves.

Our team: Eagle. Eagle is the fastest, the strongest, the wisest bird and we want to be like an eagle.

Our team: Tulpar. Tulpar is the strongest, the cleverest, the most generous animal and we want to be like a tulpar.

2.The second task: конкурс- разминка «Дни недели».

Понедельник- Monday- дүйсенбі

3.The third task is a game: "I know many English letters" (with ball)

4.The fourth task: listen to the sentences and guess what animals are described:

1st team. I am baby

My coat is smooth and nice

It is of yellow colour,

With pretty narrow stripes. (a tiger)

-It is small animal, but it has got sharp teeth. It lives in woods and fields. It is white in winter and grey in summer. It doesn't eat meat. It likes carrots. (a rabbit)

2nd team. I am big and I am strong

And my trunk is very long

What animal am I? ( an elephant)

-It is big. It has got long legs and sharp teeth. It doesn't live in woods. It helps people. It is a domestic animal. ( a dog)

5.The fifth task: Guess the riddle.(to say the missing word in three languages English, Kazakh, and Russian )

1. I'm cold. I'm white. I'm funny, I live in winter. I have a head, eyes, a nose, arms but I'm not a man. What am I? ( a snowman-аққала-снеговик )

2. I'm small. I live in the woods, I run very fast. I'm afraid of everything. (rabbit- қоян-заяц )

3.I can tell you all the day,

Time to sleep and time to play. (clock-сағат-часы )

4.A little old woman with twelve children,

Some short, some long, some cold, some hot. ( year-жыл-год)

5. This is the season

When children ski,

And Grandfather Frost

Brings the New Year tree. (winter-қыс-зима )

6.My face is black,

As black as night,

On me the students write. (blackboard-тақта-доска )

6.The sixth task: sing a song (песня « В лесу родилась елочка»- глагол to be.

-I am, you are, he is, she is

It is, we are, you are.

They are, I am, you are, he is,

She is, it is….that's all.

-Brown green and white and blue

White and blue

White and blue

Brown green and white and blue

Black and red and yellow.

7.The seventh task: Proverbs

"The people of Kazakhstan have to use equally the three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English". (N.Nazarbayev)

Complete the proverbs and translate into English and Russian.(Мақал -мәтелдерді толықтыру және ағылшын, орыс тілдеріне аудару)

1.Қарны тоқтық, қайғысы жоқтық

Аздырар.... баласын.( адам-человек- man)

2.Жаман етшкші біз тандайды,

Жаман жігіт.... тандайды.( қыз-девочка- girl)

3....аз болсын,

Тындырымды ісің көп болсын.( сөз-слово- word)

4.Басыңа іс түссе, жақсы көмек етеді

.... күліп өтеді.( жаман-плохой- bad)

5.Жалғыз ... жағу қиын

Жалғыз баланы бағу қиын.( ағаш-дерево- tree)

6.Ақылдыға сөз айтсаң

Аз ойланып біледі.

Ақылсызға сөз айтсаң,

... да күледі.( тындайды-слушать- listen)

7.Аттан тай озады,

... бала озады .( атадан-дедушка- grandfather)

8. Тіл тас жарады

Тас жармаса ... жарады.( бас-голова- head)

9 .Ғаламның шырағы-күн

Адамның шырағы- ... . ( білім-знание- knowledge)

10. ... басыңа іс түскенде танылады. ( дос-друг- friend)

8.The eighth task: Live and learn

Find the antonyms of the adjectives.

1.empty- full

2. wet- dry

3. long- short

4. easy- hard

5. high- low

6. far- close

7. old- new

8. short- tall

9.The ninth task is thinking of word with the letters of the word.

"Health" "Wealth"

10.Poem: "Ана тілі- Native language- Родной язык"-Daukena Batima.

11.Conclusion.

Now it is time to say results of our competition.

The members of jury make a conclusion. Rewarding the best team.

Teacher :thanks a lot to our participants. Also thanks our juries.
