Цели:

1) образовательная: создавать условия для совершенствования языковых и речевых навыков в ситуации речевого общения на теме «Наша страна»;

2) воспитывающая: способствовать формированию общекультурной и этнической идентичности как составляющей гражданской идентичности личности;

3) развивающая: развитие интереса к изучению культуры ознакомлению с ней представителей других культур.

Тип урока: комбинированный

Виды речевой деятельности: говорение, аудирование, чтение и письменная речь.

Оснащение урока: учебник "Английский в фокусе - 5", рабочая тетрадь, раздаточный материал

Russia is the larghes country in the world. What is the official name of our country? (the Russian Federation)

What is the capital of Russia?

What other biggest cities do you know? (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara etc.

2. Работа с текстом в журнале Spotlight on Russia

• Open the magazine Spotlight on Russia in the end of tour books, page 4. Let's read about people who live in Russia.

(Учитель читает вслух первый абзац статьи, ученики следят по тексту).

• What nationalities and republics do you know?

• What does the title "One country, many cultures…" mean?

• We are going to read about two republics, The Chuvash Republic and the Buryat Republic. What do you know about them?

Ученики отвечают на вопросы, читают текст, учитель комментирует произношение числительных и названия национальностей.

• Fill out a fact file about each of the two republics above.

• Now we are going to look at some pictures and read the captions.

The flag of the Chuvash Republic has a stylized tree of life, a symbol of rebirth, with the three suns, a traditional emblem popular in Chuvash art. Deep red stands for the land, the golden yellow stands for prosperity.

There are many theatres and museums in Cheboksary. In the middle of the city there is a beautiful bay. Cheboksary has also a beautiful boardwalks and beaches along the Volga River where people swim in the summer.

The flag of the Republic of Buryatia is a tricolor consisting of horizontal bands of blue, white and yellow with a yellow mongol symbol on the blue band.

There are many old historical buildings in the centre of Ulan-Ude.

Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in the world, containing 20 % of the world's unfrozen surface fresh water. It also the deepest lake in the world. It is about 25 million years old.
