«Человек верующий»

на тему "The Main Religions of the World"

«Основные религии мира»

Цели:

Обучающие:

  • закрепить лексический материал по теме «Человек верующий»;

  • совершенствовать речевые навыки и умения монологической и диалогической речи;

  • совершенствовать навыки поискового чтения, аудирования по теме;

  • отрабатывать навыки постановки вопросов;

Развивающие:

  • развивать навыки самостоятельной систематизации материала по теме;

  • развивать творческий потенциал учащихся, интерес к познанию, осознанному и самостоятельному получению информации;

  • развивать умение работать в группе, анализировать информацию, выделять главное, сравнивать;

Воспитывающие:

  • воспитывать уважение к культуре и традициям народов мира;

  • прививать любовь и интерес к изучению иностранного языка;

  • воспитывать активную жизненную позицию, умение слушать и уважать мнение товарища


Оборудование: учебник, рабочая тетрадь УМК «Английский язык: учебник для 10 класса школ с углубленным изучением английского языка, лицеев и гимназий» О.В. Афанасьевой, И.В. Михеевой, изд. «Просвещение», 2014, доска, проектор, компьютер, две презентации, костюмы представителей разных религиозных конфессий.


Используемые технологии: ИКТ, проектная, развитие творческого потенциала учащихся, элементы технологии развития критического мышления, личностно-ориентированное обучение.


Ход урока:


1 этап: Введение. Речевая разминка. Беседа по теме раздела.


Развитие навыков говорения, аудирования, активизация изученной лексики по теме.


Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I am very glad to see you here. Sit down, please.


There are so many countries on the Earth and so many people living on it. We are different. We have different skin colour. We have different political views and rather often it unfortunately leads to military conflicts.


To begin with, I'd like to draw your attention to the screen. (Презентация)


Man the Believer is the theme we have been working on for a couple of weeks.


Could you tell me what our beliefs depend on? (They depend on our character, background, experience).


Yes, you are absolutely right.


What can people believe in? (They can believe in

the world progress,

the postulate "beauty will save the world",

reincarnation,

life after death,

horoscopes,

yourself,

love at first sight,

the idea that all events are predetermined,

the postulate that money and power cannot make you happy,

the postulate that every new generation is wiser than the previous one,

magic)


Well, we can make a conclusion that no matter what you believe in because belief itself is of primary importance in our life.


2 этап: Определение темы урока.

A huge number of people all over the world profess some religion and find in their religions answers to the most difficult questions.


So The World's Main Religions is the topic of our today's class.


For this lesson four students got an unusual home task to prepare for a special conference devoted to the four main religions in the world. They are to pretend themselves as followers of this or that religion and now they need a few minutes to change their images a little.


3 этап: Повторение основных характеристик 4 религий мира.

So while they are getting ready for a role-play, we'll do some task.


Look at the screen. What are the four main religions in the world?

They are Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism.


Each of the religions has its own features.


Match the sacred texts, books and symbols with the religion they belong to.


4 этап: Ролевая игра. Пресс-конференция с представителями основных религий мира.


Развитие навыков диалогической речи, активизация грамматических навыков (составление вопросов в косвенной речи), развитие творческого потенциала учащихся.


Well done, and I hope our representatives are ready and I'll ask them to enter the classroom.

Don't forget to be polite and for this aim try to use some useful phrases which are on the blackboard to begin your questions.

Judaism

  3. Why is the name of Moses often mentioned with the term Judaism?

  5. What are the most important days for Jews?


How old is the fourth main religion in the world?


Buddhism

  1. Where did it originate?

  2. What is the key concept of this religion?

  3. Who was the founder of Buddhism?

  4. Is Buddha a god?

  5. What does a round mark on the statue of Buddha mean?

  6. Where do Buddhists worship?

  7. Why is the so-called cycle of life always mentioned among the followers of Buddhism?

  8. In what way do Buddhists try to reach Nirvana?

5 этап: Обобщение знаний по основным характеристикам 4-х религий мира.


Развитие навыков поискового чтения, произносительных навыков и выразительного чтения вслух.


I'm sure you've learnt a lot now and to sum up all the information you've got I offer you to do the following task: Open your books at page 64 and match the names of the religions with the facts about them.


Well done, I see you don't confuse the main features of these four religions.


Nowadays religion is closely connected with our social life as well as politics. In our modern Russian society there is a basic principle when religion and politics are divided and independed from each other. But very often in many countries religion keeps having an influence on politics in different ways.


6 этап: Нахождение ответа на вопрос по теме.

To find out if religion influences political views in Great Britain I'd like you to do the listening task.

Open your activity books at page 20, ex. 1.

7 этап: Работа с презентацией по теме.


Активизация изученной лексики по теме, развитие произносительных навыков и навыков устного перевода.


For this lesson I've prepared a presentation devoted to the places of worship in Christianity and Judaism.

I tried to make it informative and bright. Moreover, I used a lot of thematic words from the section Topical Vocabulary that is in our books on pages 86 and 87 in order to practise reading and understanding them.


So I'd like to ask any of you to read the text of the presentation aloud and translate it from English into Russian.

8 этап: Активизация лексики по теме.

Till the end of the lesson we've got some time to use our new vocabulary and develop our interpreting skills.

For this task could open your activity books at page 37 ex. 23.


I'll read the sentences in Russian and you are to express the same in English.


I see most of you have learned the new words rather well though it is sometimes difficult not to make grammar and pronunciation mistakes. I hope you won't make them at the end of the academic year.


9 этап: Обобщение значения религии в жизни человека.


Развитие навыков устной речи.

Our lesson is coming to its end and I have one question for you. What is the main function of the religion to your mind? I think all religions teach us kindness, to respect each other, to be tolerant, to live in peace.


I totally agree with you and I'm sure that a civilized modern man must treat other people's beliefs with respect rejecting only those which are immoral or lead to illegal action.


10 этап: Домашнее задание.

Well, now write down your home task: find more information about religions of China or Japan and prepare for a talk on one of these subjects. The task is given in your books on page 100.


11 этап: Подведение итогов. Рефлексия.
