Разработка открытого урока по английскому языку

на тему:

" Customs and traditions of Great Britain and Kazakhstan"



The tasks of the lesson:

Educational: to teach pupils to use their lexical material in their speech, to answer the questions in right form.

To speak about holidays, customs, food, superstitions of Great Britain and Kazakhstan.

Developing:

to develop pupil's skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening.

To develop pupil's abilities in speaking about British and Kazakh traditions.

Bringing up:

To bring up pupil's interest to foreign and their native countries

The aim of the lesson:

Consolidation of all material on the theme: " Traditions and customs of Great Britain and Kazakhstan"

The form of the lesson:

Individual, the group, the frontal

The type of the lesson:

Lesson of generalization and systematization of knowledge

Methods of the lesson:

The verbal, the visual, practical

Visual aids: active board, music, cards.



The Procedure of the lesson:

  1. Greeting:

Good-afternoon my dear friends! I'm glad to see you here today! Today, at this sunny and spring day ,we have an open lesson and first of all I want to show you a presentation. Your task to look the presentation and say: " What is the name of our today's lesson?"

  1. Of course, the title of our today's lesson is " Customs and traditions in Great Britain and Kazakhstan".

Every nation and every country has its own customs and traditions.

So, comrades the first task is answer the following questions:

-Do you like holidays?

-What is your favourite holiday?

- What is the most interesting holiday in your country?

- How do people celebrate it?

3. Let's speak about some very important holidays of GB and KZ.

-What British holidays do you know?

Christmas, Easter, New Year, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Mother's Day, Boxing Day,

Fool's Day, Independence Day, St. David's Day, St. Patrick's Day.

The most popular holidays in GB are Christmas and Easter. Let's Speak about them in details.

-What Kazakh holidays do you know?

Nauryz, Independent Day, The First President's Day, Beskunak, Kurban ait, Constitution's Day, Victory Day, New Year's Day, Mother's Day.

The most popular holidays in KZ are Nauryz and Independent Day, Let's speak about them in details.

4.Every country and every nation has its traditional cuisine and food. Let's speak about British food.

- What British food do you know?

Big roast turkey, pumpkin pie, roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, a lot of meat, tea.

-With which products the British breakfast consist of?

a) cornflakes with milk; b) toasts with marmalade; c) honey and tea;

- What tradition the British people have between 4 and 5 hours in the afternoon?

- With which products the British supper consist of?

a) omelette; b) sausages; c) bacon;

- What Kazakh food do you know?

Mutton, horse beef ( kazy), beshbarmak, baursak, kuirdak, sour- milk products ( katyk, kurt, irimshik, kymyz ), strong tasty creamed tea.

5. Task for groups:

For Thanksgiving people eat big turkey and Christmas pudding:

Discuss in groups and write with what Christmas pudding consist of:

( milk, chocolate, flour, sugar, vanilla)

For Nauryz people eat Nauryz kozhe, baursaks and of course beshbarmak and tea with milk.

Discuss in groups and write with what beshbarmak consist of:

( meat, dough, broth, onion, potato, salt, pepper)

6. Every country and every nation has its own customs and traditions.

- What customs in GB do you know?

Children hang their socks and stockings for presents from Santa Claus.

On Easter people dress new clothes it means the end of the bad weather season and the beginning of spring.

On St. Patrick's Day people dress green clothes, they make bright parades.

On St. David's Day people wear an emblem of England- the red rose.

They have a Pancake's races during Pancake week.

They celebrate the Shakespeare's birthday.

They make flowers exhibitions.

Let's speak about Pancake's races in GB.

Traditional British holiday is Pancake day. But people don't only eat pancakes on this day, they run with them. In many towns in England pancake races are held every year. These races are run by housewives. There are special rules about pancake races: housewives must wear aprons, they must put on hats or scarves on their heads. They must run about 415 yards. It is nearly 410 meters. A bell rings twice before the race. With the first bell the women must make their pancakes. With the second bell they start running with a pancake in a frying-pan. While running the race they must toss the pancake three times and catch it back on the frying-pan. If the pancake falls down the runner loose the race. The other members of the families watch the runners and cheer them up.

Let's speak about Kazakh tradition is Hobbles cutting.

When a baby begins to walk, he undergoes another ancient rite- the hobbles cutting. A hobble of rope round a child's legs is tied.

It looks like a figure- of- eight.

The child to make a few steps and the hobbles are cut with a knife by the most respected guest, one whose life is a worthy example.

By cutting the hobbles he blesses the baby to go through his own life more successfully.

7. Every country and every nation has its own superstitions. Let's speak about superstitions in GB.

1) Breaking a mirror. 2) Walking under a ladder. 3) Friday 13th. 4) Opening an umbrella indoors. 5) A black cat crossing your path. 6) The sight of a single magpie. 7) Spilling salt. 8) Placing shoes on the table or on the bed. 9) Treading on cracks in the pavement. 10) Walking over three drains.

Let's speak about superstitions in KZ.

1) Salt. 2) A crow. 3) Kazan. 4) Teapot. 5) Horse mains. 6) Dog. 7) Pregnant woman. 8) Morning visitor. 9) Stumbled guest. 10) Baby's crandle.

8. Task for groups:

Connect English and Russian equivalents.

9. Task for groups:

Compare Great Britain and Kazakhstan.



10. Make up the following sentences:
