  2. Развитие умений говорения

  3. Повторение и обобщение прошедшего времени для описания ситуации в прошлом

  4. Развитие умений работы в парах, в группе

  1. Формулировка темы

Good evening. I am glad to see you. How are you? Fine. Let's start our lesson.

Read 4 statements and guess what things the members of the family are talking about. (slide 1)

(Answers: TV set, computer, mobile phone, microwave oven)

OK. How do we call all these things?.... Right. Our theme for today is modern technologies. (slide 2)

And now I want you to show the video. Watch it and then answer my questions.

What other words do relate to "technology"? (Answers: electronics, high-tech, micro-tech, info-tech)

What inventions is Mr. Duncan talking about? (Answers: television, cellular phone, washing machine, radio, MP 3 player, notebook computer, toothbrush)

And what inventions can you name?......

The first task for today is…. ( to revise some words and learn the new ones).

Look at the pictures and name the inventions (use vocabulary on your desks). Then repeat after me one more time. (slide 3)

Wonderful inventions have been made in science and technology recently. These inventions are changing the lifestyle of millions of people all over the world.

Do you use modern inventions in your everyday life? Think and name 3 things that are extremely useful for you and you can hardly live without. Ready?

Compare your lists in the group, share your ideas with classmates. Сhose the technologies that were named most often in your group? Try to conclude on the blackboard. Which group is the first?

Yes, these inventions are very important to you. But all is not perfect. Watch the video again. (3.38)

A now read the following statements…. What problem should we discuss?……(slide 4-6)

The second task is ….(to discuss positive and negative impact of the inventions on people)

Yes, some certain technologies have actually made people's lives more difficult. Think, do the modern technologies from your lists have a more positive or a more negative impact on you? (slide 7)

Use vocabulary:

I find… very useful because…. I spend too much time….

….makes my life easier, more interesting but It's bad for my health because….

…. spare my time very much It pollutes our environment….

I feel tired…

…make me lazy and less in touch with the real world

  1. Формулировка третьей цели урока. Повторение прошедшего времени глагола и отработка его в устной речи

People's lives have changed a lot because of modern technologies. Try to imagine people's lives 50 years ago. Imagine?

But first answer the following questions: (slide 8)

Which grammar tense describes an action that happened only in the past? (Past Simple)

The third task is ….. (to revise and use Past Simple to describe the situation in the past )

And now try to answer the question "What did people use instead of today's modern devices 50 years ago?"….. (slide 9)

Work in pairs. You have papers and pencils. Draw your ideas on the paper, then look at your classmate's picture and present his\her idea.

Use vocabulary:

People didn't use….50 years ago./ People used …..instead.

Now they use…

It's much more convenient/fast/economical but less natural/beautiful/healthy
