Сценарий внеклассного мероприятия "Thanksgiving Day"
Цель: познакомить учащихся с одной из форм проявления иноязычной культуры, а именно с праздником «День Благодарения».
Задачи:
образовательная: расширение кругозора учащихся.
развивающая: развитие познавательной активности и творческих способностей учащихся, формирование мотивации к изучению английского языка и умений использовать полученную информацию в новой коммуникативной ситуации.
воспитательная: развитие интереса к культуре и традициям других народов.
Ход мероприятия:
Student 1: Morning everybody! Every nation has its national holidays. And today on the fourth Thursday of November Americans celebrate one of the greatest national holidays. Do you know what holiday it is?
Students: Yes, we do. It's Thanksgiving Day.
Student 1: You're absolutely right. Like other holidays, Thanksgiving Day has its history. And now let's listen to some facts from the history of this holiday.
The Pilgrim 1: On September 16, 1620 we, pilgrims, sailed from Plymouth, England. Our ship was called the Mayflower. On December 26, 1620 we landed at Plymouth Rock, in Massachusetts.
The Indian Chief: Their first winter was terrible. The Pilgrims were hungry, sick and cold. Many people died. We decided to help them. So, we brought them bread, vegetables, fruit, corn and other things. The pilgrims were grateful to us.
The Indian: When spring came, we taught the Pilgrims to plant corn, to build houses, to hunt, and to fish. In other words, we tried to teach them how to survive in America.
The Pilgrim 2: In the autumn of 1621 we had a great harvest and decided to make a feast. We were thankful to the Indians as they had helped us. So, we welcomed them to our Thanksgiving feast.
