There aren't many birds around in winter. Most have left your area. Those that stay

are not as active. Activity uses energy that is needed to keep warm.

The worst problems for birds in winter are getting enough heat and holding on to

the heat once it is made. These are problems for all birds. But it is especially true

for very small ones. They cannot find enough food. The weather stays so cold for

so long that they cannot eat enough to keep alive. But birds have many ways of

fighting the cold.

You shiver to keep warm. The heat that you make is made mostly in your muscles.

The muscles make more heat when they are active. So one way of keeping warm is

to move about, use your muscles. Another way is to shiver. When your body needs

heat, the muscles tighten and loosen quickly. They become active. Just as you shiver to keep warm, so do birds.

My school has a good reputation in the city. I study at this school for quite a time. That is why I know every corner of our school building very well. By the way, speaking about the building itself I should say that it looks ordinary enough. My school looks like dozens of others built at about the same time. When you enter my school, you find yourself in a big beautiful lobby with decorated walls. Here one can see the cloakrooms and some corridors leading to the school gym and to the school canteen.

Who doesn't love music? Whatever mood we have - bad or good, from time to time we turn on our favorite song. And it, in turn, either calms us, or on the contrary, makes us fall into melancholy.
Life without music would be boring and dull. Just imagine a disco being in silence or holidays being without musicians. Absolutely all people of every type around the world are not indifferent to the music. Genres that are most popular are rock, rap, pop, techno, chanson, hip-hop and others. There are other very specific genres. For example, folk music, classical music, spiritual music and also such interesting genres as blues and jazz.
Have you ever noticed that people, who share your tastes in music, get along with you much faster than those whose tastes are very different from yours? Many people believe that music is first and foremost an instrument of the soul. Probably it is so.
Most of all I like modern music, but I also will not refuse to listen to classical and ethnic music. For example, I like Spanish folk songs. Listening to foreign songs I improve my knowledge of English. This is a great way to mix business with pleasure.

So let me tell you more about my pets. In my house you will find two dogs and one cat, aquarium with fish and two hamsters. Most of all I love dogs, but my mom loves cats. My brother is a very reserved person by character, so he keeps fish, but my sister loves hamsters. As for dad, his love is sufficient for all the animals. He, just like me, doesn't mind playing with any pet in our house.

As I said earlier, I'm responsible mainly for the dogs in the house. Every day I take them for a walk twice. At the first opportunity I play with a ball with them or throw an artificial bone to them. My dogs are very smart and know a lot of tricks.

I believe that life without animals would be too boring. Animals are our friends that will never desert us.

Cultural development of a person depends on the visits to such places as theatres, exhibitions and libraries. Libraries play a significant role in the lives of all people who strive for knowledge and self-development. Books are a great source of knowledge of our ancestors and just simple modern writers. The many years' experience right up to our time is gathered in the books. Everybody chooses what to read. Someone just ignores the literature, someone prefers to read only the classical literature, and someone likes modern glossy magazines. Tastes differ. However, whatever they say a book is the key to education and high intelligence of the reader. Books on traveling, novels, adventure, fictions - in the library you will find it all and even more. After your filling in the library card, you can borrow a book you want. What sort of book … search in the catalogue. You can go to the reading room or take the book home. However, be careful with the book! Don't tear out sheets and do not write anything on the pages. No ostrich has ever been observed to bury its head in the sand. It would suffocate if it did. When danger threatens, ostriches run away like any other sensible animal. The myth about ostriches may have arisen because they sometimes lie down in their nest with their necks stretched out flat and scan the horizon for trouble. If the predator gets too close they get up and leg it. The ostrich is the largest bird in the world.

The head-burying myth was first reported by the Roman historian, who also thought ostriches could hatch their eggs by looking at them aggressively. He didn't mention their ability to swallow odd things. As well as the stones they use to aid digestion, ostriches will eat iron, copper, brick or glass. One ostrich in London Zoo was found to have eaten a metre-length of rope, a spool of film, a watch and a number of coins.

The school is a little life , which every adult lives. This is one of the main stages of our lives. Everything in the world starts small, everything starts out small, and then grows: little sprout becomes a big tree, the brook flows into the river, the words turn into sentences and large novels, a few notes compose great tunes. And so we will: begin to know the life at school. And then, in adult life, rely on your wits and knowledge received at school. Thus, General education is a must .Unfortunately, many teenagers attitude towards school is the opposite of what it should be. They believe that youth need to be entertained .I think that a lot depends on the parents: they must convince the children that learning is necessary because without knowledge it is impossible to survive in the vast and ever-changing world.

You don't see many birds in winter in Siberia. Most have left your area. Those that stay are

not as active.
