Тема: American Presidents. Introducing Australia.

Цели и задачи: 1. Формирование у учащихся многообразных типов высказываний ( описание, доказательство, выражение мнения ).

2. Организация целенаправленной речевой практики учащихся на английском языке по теме:

3. Развитие познавательной активности учащихся в процессе иноязычного образования.

4. Воспитание чувства сопричастности к мировой истории, более глубокое осознание своей культуры через контекст культуры англоязычных стран.

Оборудование: доска, проектор, компьютер, УМК Верещагина-6, карточки.

Let's begin our lesson. By the end of the first part of our lesson we'll summarize the information on " American Presidents", then you'll learn a new tense and by the end of the lesson you'll know the main facts on Australia and speak about them with the help of a mind map.

Why are George Washington and Abraham Lincoln especially remembered in American history?

Teacher: Why did people respect G. Washington?

Teacher: And what can you say about A. Lincoln's character?

Teacher: Now you know that both presidents had strong characters. They had to do a lot of things by themselves, were honest, brave, wise, active, devoted to their country. People trusted them.

All of you should have such features of character. They will help you to become outstanding people. I wish you to develop these qualities in your character. Who knows, may be one of you will be a famous scientist or the cleverest politician and even a president. All depends on you.

Now let's read the interview with Barack Obama we've composed at our previous lesson. Name the tense:

• I was born on the 4^th of August, 1961 in Hawaii.

• Where do you live?

• I live and work in the White house.

• What do you usually do at work?

• I sign bills.

• Have you signed any bills this week?

• Yes, I have signed two bills on education this week.

• I was talking to the vice president Joe Biden.

• What is he doing now?

• He is discussing laws with the Cabinet.

• I think I will pack my suitcases in the evening.

• Are you going to leave Washington D.C.?

• Yes, I am flying to Australia tomorrow.

• When does the plane take off?

• It takes off at 8 a.m.

• What will you be doing at this time tomorrow?

• Just think, I will be lying on the beach at this time tomorrow.

This is not a completed interview. We are going to add one more question using a new tense form Future Continuous

will + be + v + ing for certain points in time and certain future events.

Open your textbooks at page 157 &6 and read the rule

Open page 120 and read the examples.

Do ex. 5 p. 120, it will be your home assignment.

What do you about Australian beaches? There are so many beaches there that if you visit one beach a day it will take you 27 years!

Act out the whole dialogue.

So, we are going to revise everything that you've about Australia today.
