Задачи:

I. Оргмомент.

II. Сообщение темы и целей урока учащимся. Today we are going to talk about styles in clothes and dressing. Perhaps it's not a global problem but it means a lot, especially for teens who are rather concerned about their appearance.

III. Речевая зарядка.

Answer my questions please .

1 Do you wear the same sorts of clothes as your friends?

2 Are clothes important to you?

3 Do you mind what other people think of your clothes?

4 Do you think you should take into consideration other's opinion about your clothes?

Agree or disagree with my statements.

1. You always ask your parents for advice about what to wear.

2. Clothes should express your individuality.

3. The clothes you wear are always original.

4. You dress in clothes that look similar to what your parents wore in the 80's.

5. It's a good idea to enjoy all the different styles that are possible now.

6. It's impossible to change the clothes you have into the things you really like.

7. Jeans are always in fashion.

8. It is not important to you that the clothes match.

IV. Проверка домашнего задания.

Let's discuss the following questions:

  1. Do you agree that a uniform suppresses students' individuality?

  2. What do you think students should wear at school? Why?

  3. Who should decide what to wear/ whether to wear a uniform? Why do you think so?

  4. Should a school uniform be fashionable?

Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя, принимают участие в беседе по текстам:

  1. Yes, I do, because everybody looks the same and you don't have your own style/ No, I don't. I think clothes cannot suppress students' individuality.

  2. I think students should wear a school uniform in order to have a sense of belonging to a school/ To my mind, a school uniform is not important, students can wear plain not bright clothes at school.

  3. In my opinion, students should decide what to wear at school, because only they can feel and understand what clothes are comfortable for them/ I think the director should decide what to wear/whether to wear a uniform, because he is the leader of the school and can take serious decisions.

  4. I think, no it shouldn't, because some fashionable clothes may distract students from their study/ To my mind, a school uniform should be fashionable so that students look trendy.

Many people believe that a school uniform is better than casual clothes for children at school. What's your opinion? I'd like to listen to your arguments for and against school uniform. Groups should report the results of their work.

Arguments for school uniform

  1. School uniforms help pride and discipline.

  2. It stops us from choosing what to wear when we get up in the morning.

  3. There is no difference between students from rich and poor families.

  4. If people wear what they want it can lead to arguments and bullying.

  5. Formal style is great!

  6. It helps everyone to feel equal.

  7. Students can concentrate on their work better (they don't think how they look).

  8. Uniforms would end discrimination against students who don't have brand clothes.

  9. School will turn into fashion show if everybody wears his/her favourite clothes.

  10. If we have school uniforms we'll be ready to have a dress code at our future work.

Arguments against school uniform

  1. Students can't express themselves.

  2. Lack of comfort (people feel more comfortable in their own clothes).

  3. It takes away our individuality and freedom.

  4. School uniforms are expensive and most families don't have extra $200-300 to pay for it.

  5. School uniform is boring.

  6. Lack of individuality, creativity.

  7. Unnecessary waste of money.

  8. Clothes are a way of expression how you feel or who are you.

  9. Absence of bright colours at school that influences our mood.



V. Развитие аудитивных умений. Обучение заполнению таблицы

Listen to three teenagers talking about fashion. You'll have to fill in the table and write as much information as possible about them. You can see the table in your workbooks on page 11, exercise 10.

VI. Развитие умений монологической речи.

It's interesting to find out if fashion is important to you.

  • Why do you dress the way you do? Whose opinion about clothes is important to you?

  • It's time to describe some pictures. You can see them in exercise 60 on page 23. You can see different people there. Use the example and describe any picture you like.

VII. Развитие умений чтения.

Let's read the text about fashion. The task is to complete sentences before the texts.

It's interesting to find out your opinion about the ideas of the teenagers from exercise 62. You'll work in groups of four and comment on each of the texts. Read the sentences from exercise 63 in your textbooks. Which message do the sentences refer to?

1. Be careful and change the clothes you have into the things you really like.

2. Wear what you want and create something new.

3. Enjoy all of the different styles that are possible now.
