Прошедшее продолженное время (Past Cont.) обозначает действие, происходившее в определённый момент в прошлом, который обозначен либо обстоятельством времени, либо другим действием в прошлом. При этом ни начало, ни конец длительного действия неизвестны. Подчёркивается сам процесс действия, его продолжительность.
