Travel problems

Тип урока: комбинированный

Форма урока: ответы на вопросы учителя, работа с иллюстрациями, фронтальная работа, индивидуальная работа, работа в группах.

Цель урока: овладеть структурами и разговорными фразами общения по теме "Travel Problems".


Задачи:

  1. Развивающая:

- развивать навыки диалогической и монологической речи;

- развивать навыки чтения и аудирования с полным пониманием информации;

-совершенствовать навыки языковой догадки, памяти, внимания, мышления.


  1. Образовательная:

- актуализировать знания учащихся по теме "Travel Problems";

- освоить и закрепить изученную лексику по теме "Travel Problems".

- расширить кругозор по теме;

- реализовать межпредметные связи (география, музыка).


  1. Воспитательная:

-воспитывать умение внимательно слушать и слышать, уважать другое мнение;

-формировать потребности и способности к сотрудничеству и взаимопомощи при работе в парах;

-воспитать любовь к языку

1. Организационный момент. Teacher: Good morning! I am glad to see you! Take your seats, please. What was the topic of our last lesson?

Pupil: Last lesson we talked about travelling.

Teacher: Do you like travelling?

Pupil: Yes, we like travelling.

Teacher: I'm sure everybody likes to travel because it is an amazing experience.

Teacher: Look at the screen. Here you can see different sights, famous people, flags related to countries. Answer the question what countries are they? . ( Просмотр слайдов).

2. Фронтальный опрос. (Вопросы задаются по ходу слайда).

Teacher:1 слайд. Do you like Great Britain? What is the capital of Great Britain? What is the name of this song? Who sang it? What is the name of the British national flag? What is Great Britain famous for?

2 слайд. Have you ever been to India ? What is the capital of India? Do you like Indian films? What is it?

3 слайд. What is the capital of Greece? Do you like Greek salad? Can you make Greek salad?

What is your favourite country? How can people travel? How do you like travelling?

Teacher: I' am glad that you know geography well.

    Teacher: I'd like you to read the tongue twister to improve your pronunciation.

Translate it. Say what sounds are we practicing?

The great Greek grape growers grow great Greek grapes.

Pupil: We are practicing the sounds [g] and [r].

Teacher: Read the tongue twister all together. Excellent. Read it as quickly as you can.

  1. Проверка д/з. Teacher: Your home task was to find English, Bashkir, Russian proverbs about travelling. Read them.

Pupil: When at Rome, do as Romans do. Travel broadens the minds. Хочешь узнать человека - соверши с ним путешествие. Кто в море бывал, тот лужи не боиться.

Teacher: Thank you, you've found very interesting proverbs.

  1. Новая лексика.

Teacher: Have a look at the blackboard and read the proverb («Experience is the mother of wisdom» - Жизненный опыт-мать мудрости). This proverb is related to our today's theme (travel problems ). When do people get experience? Try to guess what topic we're discussing today?

Pupil: Today we are going to talk about travel problems.

Teacher: Well done. While travelling people can have some problems.

Try to find out the aims of our lesson. ( Начало предложений на доске).Complete the sentences.

Teacher: It's time to work in groups. The first group is the first row. The second group is the second row. Divide the words into 4 columns.

Weather: sweltering heat, stormy, windy;

- I do apologize. I'd like to offer you a 20 % discount on the price of one of our Autumn breaks as a gesture of goodwill.

- A 20% discount, you must be joking. I want to see the manage


Teacher: I'll hand out the dialogues. Read it to yourselves and then you will answer the questions. Read the 1st question. Translate it and ask your classmate.

  1. You are to learn the words on the topic "Travelling problems",

  2. write a cinquains about travel problems. Do you remember what is it? It is a kind of poem consisting of 5 lines (a general word. two adjectives on the topic. three verbs. the main idea of your "poem" (it must consist of 3-4 words) and a synonym of the general word.

  3. Read and translate the letter of complaint. Next lesson we're learning how to write this type of letter.

Appendix 2. Writing ( a letter of complaint)

Read and translate the letter and fill in the gaps with the words from the list.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about the terrible service provided by your airline when I travelled with you on flight B2452 to Rome last Thursday.

1)………although the flight was delayed for over two hours, passengers were given no explanation for the delay and we were not even offered a drink.

2)……..when we finally boarded the plane, he staff most unhelpful and refused to respond to the call button. One member of the cabin crew actually spilt coffee on my jacket. 3) …….. he made no effort to clean it up or to apologise.
