Тема урока: Who is a Successful Person?

Цель урока: знакомство с биографией Матери Терезы и других зарубежных знаменитостей.

Сопутствующая задача: развитие речевых умений; развитие умения читать.

Развивающая задача: развитие памяти, внимания, мышления, речи.

Воспитательная задача: способствовать развитию интереса учащихся к английскому языку.

Речевой материал:

Материал для повторения: Clever, serious, talkative, adult, sociable, tolerant, industrious, intelligent, magazine, international.

Новый речевой материал: Ambition, ambitious, yourself, independent, English-speaking, self-made, hard-working, newspaper.

Оснащение: учебник М. З. Биболетова «Enjoy English 8» 2009, доска. Наглядность:

Иллюстративная: записи слов на доске.

Ход урока-Good morning, kids! I'm glad to see you! Sit down, please. What is it date today? How are you?

Today we are going to speak about Walt Disney, Mother Teresa or Slava Polunin.

-Good morning, teacher. We are glad to see you too! Today is the eighth of April. I'm fine… I'm good…

II. Речевая разминка.

- Let's revise the new words we learnt at the previous lesson. Look at the blackboard. Match the two columns of words to make up word combinations

III.Проверка домашнего задания.

Now let's check your home task: Ex. 3, 4 p. 110. Here you had to look back at the story told by Liza Carey. Put in the prepositions if needed.

In Ex. 4 p. 110 you had to add at least one characteristic to each other.

IV. Развитие речи

- Finish the sentences on your cards. На карточках:

- Well, I see that you can use the new words.

- What about you? Would you like to become a successful person? Why? Have you got all necessary qualities? Or maybe you need to improve something? Think about and say what traits of your character you should develop to become a successful person.

VI. Обучение чтению

- Let's read about really successful people. Look at the photos on pages 96-97. Do you know them? Can you say what an famous for? Then you have an opportunity to do it now. Choose one of the texts in ex. 11, p. 96 and read it. Be ready to answer the questions of your classmates.

- I see that you are ready. Let's make up questions to be answered. Use the cards.

Put the words in the correct order to make up questions.

- Work in pairs, ask each other questions. Then report to the class what you have found out.

- Now read other texts and answer the questions under the letter b).

1. Yes, I do. I think Walt Disney and Mother Teresa were successful persons because their work is famous all over the world, they worked for other people and even after their death people still remember them.

2. No, there isn't. (Yes, there is. Their contribute into the people's lives is great. They worked not for money but for other people.)

3. No, I didn't. (Yes, I did. I learnt that...)

Учитель распределяет тексты между учащимися. Прочитав свой текст, школьники готовят вопросы одноклассникам по содержанию прочитанных ими текстов.
