Конспект урока "New Zealand".
In Maori, New Zealand has come to be known as Aotearoa, which is translated into English as THE LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD.
INTRODUCTION
Legend says this land occured from the ocean like a giant fish. And then it waited. In fact these islands waited until every other country had been discovered. Before any human ever set foot here.
Welcome to the youngest country on the earth.
GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION

New Zealand is a country in the south-west of Pacific Ocean including two large islands ( the North Island and the South Island ) and numerous smaller islands.

Wellington is the capital of NZ. It is the second largest urban area.

Wellington is situated in the Wellington region at the southern tip of the North Island.

MAORI
The Māori (commonly pronounced /mɑɔːri/) are the indigenous Polynesian people of Aotearoa (New Zealand). The group probably arrived in south-western Polynesia in several waves at some time before 1300.[6] The Māori settled the islands and developed a distinct culture.

Sport has a major role in NZ' culture; this is particularly the case with rugby union.

New Zealand has known human habitation for less than a thousand years.
Before then, it was a land of forests, mountains and beaches.
The loudest sounds were birdsong, wind and wave.
