HEALTHY FOOD



Цель: совершенствовать навыки чтения, развивать умение находить определенную информацию во время чтения, учить работать в группах, развивать коммуникативные способности, навыки говорения, расширять знания учеников о роли здорового питания в нашей жизни.



Ход урока



I Организационный момент

1. Greeting. Aim.

Good morning, boys and girls. I'm glad to see you happy and healthy. I hope you will be active and energetic at our lesson. So, please, smile to each other and begin our lesson.

2. Warming up

Look at the blackboard. There is a sentence here. Listen and repeat after me.



Good food makes you strong and gives you energy.



Do you agree with this statement? So, this is the epigraph of our lesson.

I would like to begin our lesson with a poem. Listen to me, please.

Vegetables and fruit

For children are very good

Eat vegetables and fruit

And they'll do you very good.

Those who eat much fruit

Are in a very good mood.

They are in a very good mood,

Those, who eat much fruit.

-Do you like vegetables?

-Do you like fruit?

-Are vegetables and fruit healthy food?

-Try to guess the topic of our lesson.

You are right, the topic of our lesson is 'Healthy food'.

-Do you know that healthy and long life depends on healthy food?

-What food is useful, how to eat well, be happy and good-looking?

We'll try to answer all these questions. We'll read the text and do

some tasks.

1. Reading (HO1)

You will work in groups. Let's devide into 3 groups. So, to divide into groups you must decide what colour do you prefer: red, orange or yellow?

If you decide, change your seats.

The speakers, take the marking-cards and you'll put the marks.

So, pupils, you must read your part of the text, understand the information and retell it to your classmates. (5 minutes )

The time is over. The participants of the first group go to another two groups.

The participants of the second group go to another two groups.

The participants of the third group go to another two groups.

To devide into groups you must decide what fruit do you prefer: oranges, apples or bananas.

So, retell the information to your classmates. (5 minutes)

1) Give the title to the text.

2) Make the plan of the text.

3) What is the main idea of the text?

4) Fill in the table which is on the blackboard. (HO2)

III Заключительная часть урока

1. Summarizing.

Did you like the activities? Are vitamins and minerals useful for us?

What have we to eat to be healthy? What food is useful to eat?

Healthy Food

It is very important to eat healthy food and have a balanced diet. We must get vitamins. Vitamin A we get from butter, eggs, milk, fruit and vegetables. It is necessary for our growth and for healthy skin, eyes.

Another good example is vitamin C. We get vitamin C from green vegetables, fruit and potatoes. We need vitamin C for healthy skin, bones and muscles. When we are ill, we usually drink tea with lemon.

Food and drink also provide us with lots of minerals - calcium and iron, for example. We get calcium from milk and cheese. Calcium is important for our teeth and bones. We get iron from meat, fish, cereal and green vegetables. Watch what you eat!

I Организационный момент

1. Aim. Today we shall have one of the most interesting lessons because we can sum up all our knowledge about food. We are going to work hard. We are having a test. You'll have to demonstrate the knowledge of the words and the ability to use them in practice. You'll

write, read, listen and speak.

2. Warming up.

T. There is a proverb on the blackboard. Let's read it.



An apple a day keeps the doctor away.



What does this proverb mean? (Apples have a lot of vitamins. Eat apples and you will be healthy. Apples are healthy food.)



II Основная часть урока

1. Vocabulary revision.

Read the word-combinations and tick ' , healthy food and cross ' , unhealthy food.(HO3) (5 minutes)

Change your copy-books, check on. Count mistakes and put your mark.

2. Group work. You will work in groups. I think you help your mothers to cook different tasty dishes. Let's prepare some dishes and treat each other. I'll give you some foods, you must choose the food you like and write the recipe. Don't forget that your dish must be healthy. So, take the cards and let's begin. (5 minutes )

The pupils present their dishes (Fruit fantasy, Russian salad, Vitamin salad).

I think your dishes are tasty, really healthy and useful.

3. Physical exercises.

Snap your fingers,

Turn round, sit down.

4. Listening.

Write what is good and what is bad for your health. If it is good put '+, and if it is bad - put '- .

HOW TO BE FIT



Цель: активизировать лексический и грамматический материал, совершенствовать навыки монологической речи, формировать культуру сотрудничества, развивать творческие и аналитические способности учеников.

ХОД УРОКА



I Организационный момент

1. Aim. The topic of our lesson is ' How to be fit '. During this unit which is called 'Food' you were working at your projects and at today's lesson you must present your projects. We'll speak about healthy food and how to be fit.

2. Warming up.

Let's remember some English tongue-twisters about food and drinks

A cup of coffee hot in a proper coffee pot.

The cook took a good look at the cookery book.

I like the way you look

I like the way you cook.

II Основная часть урока

1. Matching the parts of proverbs. (HO4)

During this unit we learned many proverbs, let's remember some of them. Match the parts of the proverbs and match the English proverbs with their Russian equivalents.(5 minutes)

2. Pupils' projects.

You were devided into three groups and were suggested such topics: 'Healthy Food ', 'Group Survey on the Food Pupils Eat ', 'How to Keep Fit'. It's high time to present your projects. (Ученики представляют свои проекты ).



HEALTHY FOOD



Healthy food must have proteins, minerals, vitamins, fibre, fats and carbohydrates. It is very important to eat healthy food. We need to eat a balanced diet. Each day we should eat some body-building foods (proteins). These foods are healthy and you should eat a lot of them. You can get the proteins from animal products (meat, fish, milk, cheese, eggs) or vegetables products (soya products, nuts). You can get some energy-giving foods (carbohydrates and fats) and some foods which give you vitamins and fibre. Fresh fruit and vegetables are especially good foods because they have both vitamins and fibre. We should eat a lot of them. Fruit have all the sugar our bodies need. We must eat fewer chips and salted nuts. We don't need a lot of fat, so we must choose low-fat products.





HOW TO BE FIT





To be fit means to be in a good physical form. We have to take care of our health. When we are healthy we are strong, active and full of energy. Several things are important to be fit: food we eat, care of the body and clothes, daily habits and exercises. So we should eat healthy food (fruit and vegetables) and have regular meals. We should go in for sport. We should keep our home and our body clean We should sleep more - go to bed earlier. We should wash our hands and clean our teeth. Our body also needs fresh air to breathe. Follow these advices and you will be healthy, strong, active and full of energy.



GROUP SURVEY



Our pupils were asked to write down everything they ate and drank during one day. So we knew they had eaten some body-building foods (fish, meat, cheese, eggs), some energy giving foods (nuts, cakes, chocolate), fruit and vegetables. They have a lot of vitamins, minerals and fibre. All pupils ate a lot of meat or fish, potatoes, cheese. They are full of proteins. Our body needs it to grow. But only 50% of pupils ate fresh fruit and vegetables and drank fruit juice. They must try to eat a lot of them. At the same time nobody ate chips, crips and salted nuts. They are not useful food. We can say that the pupils had a balanced diet. Their food had all things to grow and be healthy: carbohydrates, fats, fibre, minerals proteins and vitamins.

-Now I'm sure you know what food is healthy, how to be fit, be happy and good-looking.
