Good morning, everybody. My name is Tatiana Dyakonova. I am from Belskoye. I am a pupil of the 8 Grade. My English teacher is T.N.Maltseva.

I am going to represent you my small research work " The use of English words in Modern Russian" I worked on this theme about a year. Why did I choose it?

As we can see modern Russian is full English words. They are everywhere: on TV, radio, mass-media, in every day, speech and life. For example show, talk - show, thriller, brain - ring, exclusive interview.

When we work with the computer we must understand a lot of English words: driver, winchester. The same with mobile phones.

So, in order to be modern and successful in life , studies and in communications we have to understand and use English words in modern Russian. The following tasks have been put for the decision of this problem.

№ 1 To pick up a material for the research.

№ 2 To study, systematize and analyzed it, and I tried to find out:

The first: on what depends the use of English words in different situations?

The second: what is the role of anglicisms in modern language?

The following methods of research have been chosen: gathering materials, research, analysis and systematizations of words.

Many new borrowings are really necessary in modern life exact descriptions. However some English words are borrowed on fashion despite of presence exact Russians equivalents such as conservations ( конверсия), transformations(трансформация), stagnations(стагнация)- застой, consensus( консенсус)- the agreement, image (образ) ect. итсетера.

The certain amount of words is badly entered in Russian system.

The following principal causes of borrowings were distinguished:

1)historical contacts of people

2) necessity of a nomination of new subjects and concepts;

3) innovation of the nation in any field of activity;

4) a language fashion;

5) economy of language means ect.

These are the extra linguistic reasons. Except for them, there are also intralinguistic reasons, to them concern:

а) absence in the native language of an equivalent word for a new subject or concept

(the driver, джойстик, a player, monitoring, etc.);

б) the tendency to using one word instead of a descriptive construction (hotel for auto tourists - motel, short press conference for journalists - a briefing, figure skating on a ski - freestyle, the businessman etc.);

c) the tendency of filling expressive means (service - сервис, a limit- restriction- ограничение).

I have collected more than 200 (two hundred) words, reading newspapers and magazines, dictionaries, listening a radio, watching TV, communicating with friends.

I have allocated the following 14 groups of borrowings.

Professions.

Economics.

Offices and organizations.

Culture.

Sport.

Clothes.

Food and drinks.

Psychology.

Measures.

Entertainment.

Politics.

Means of moving.

Public phenomena.

Computers.

I suppose. It is impossible to represent all of them. That's why, I'll tell you about some of them.

Culture

Show (English show) - magnificent scenic representation with participation of stars. Design (English design) - art designing activity. A brain - ring - type of a

quiz, intellectual competition. A thriller - film or the novel of horrors, fascinating product.

Sport .

Speedway - a kind of motorcycle sports, motorcycle races on tracks, and also on an ice path of stadium.

The sprinter -the sportsman specializing on overcoming of short distances in run.The stayer - the sportsman specializing in overcoming of long distances.

Food and drinks

Sandwich- a sandwich with oil, meat or a ham in the English use. Grog - a drink from rum or cognac and hot water with sugar.

Computers (computer).

The driver - a component of the program which carries out interaction with the external device. Byte - unit of the information.

So we see, that the wide spread of using English words is especially observed in the 90 (nineteenth).

Borrowed words submit to a grammatical system of language. For example:

Занимается бизнесом.

Он крупный бизнесмен.

There is tendency to leave some English nouns to leave in the constant form. These are names of the English and American firms, the

enterprises, newspapers, products, etc. For example (the Coсa-Сola, The Washington Post).

Due to mass media, sane quite often political, legal and economic terms have escaped from highly specialized sphere of application and became terms of the social demand. Economic terms were more others.

We are entering in to a new difficult, but interesting life.

And in fact that in this life, besides physical and intellectual talents, we need speech abilities, possession of oratory and skills communication with our contemporaries.

The knowledge of English borrowings will help us achieve our purposes, to fill free and independent in modern life.

Borrowing from other languages is natural phenomenon.

The use of English words occurred, occurs and will occur in Russian. So much I've got to say. Thank you.
